heartburn meds

Hi everyone! I have a delemma I would like to run past all of you. I take prilosec Every day for heartburn. Have for years. The OB wants to me Skipp dose or try NOT to have it at all for the first trimester (I'm 9weeks) I tired for one day  and wanted to die!! She says its because we don't know enough about it to say its safe. But I still have to work and go to school. And that's really hard when your stomach is burning out of your chest! Do you think I should keep taking? Or follow the OB's advice? And BTW.. I looked it up. Its cat c drug. But there are no knone risks associated with taking it!
Thank in advance!

I take prilosec and my midwife didn't tell me to stop. I would die if I had to stop. I took zantac for years but it stopped working for me.

If doctor is against it then dont take it. You only have a few more weeks of 1st trimester. My heartburn has been awful the last few weeks. So bad i eat as little as possible. Feels like someones punching thru my chest and squeezing my throat closed. Burns all thru my chest and in my ears. The chewable tums help a little but im gonna see if I can get nexium prescription.

There are other things that are safe to take during pregnancy for heartburn and the doctor is a doctor for a reason. I deff say listen. I wouldn't wanna find out any known risks either. Do u really know what a class c drug means?? Just because it says that u think its safe? I would rethink that. Good luck to you.

***Sorry posted but wasn't done

**Tums helped, but it got so bad I didn't want to eat bc anything would make it flare up. Milk helped but for only a few  minutes.  Finally my OB  gave me  Nexium.  No heatburn since!!

Honestly. .it's not worth finding out if there are risks. Trust your doctor's advice and wait. If something did happen I couldnt imagine the guilt.
