is benadryl safe?

A few moms have told me they take benadryl in their 3rd trimester to help them sleep they said their doctors approved it for them. I'm weary about taking any medication while.pregnant. I'm 33 weeks and get maybe 4 hours of.sleep a night, broken up. Falling asleep takes hours. I'm not in pain (provided i dont roll over lol) but I'm extremely irritable and itchy. I have restless leg syndrome too. I cant take another night like this. But again, I'm scared to take it. As soon as my doctors office opens ill ask him but i just wanted to se id anyone had experience with benadryl. If not, what else helps you?

I take Unisom once in a while for sleeping. I have taken Benadryl throughout my pregnancy for allergies as well. Both are safe. But obviously use in moderation.

Benadryl and a sleep aid have the exact same ingredients.  Just saying.

They give benadryl for sleep all the time, even at the hospital. My md gave me a "safe" drugs list and benadryl is on there and so is unisom. Good luck.

They divide medications in categories according to safety. Category A and Category B are safe in pregnancy. Benadryl falls in cat B and sage in all trimesters. I am in first trimester, been having cold congestion for more than a week and taking it.my doc okayed.

I would ask your doctor if you can use a sleep aid. Benadryl is not technically a sleeping medication, and personally I wouldn't use it as such. My doctor okayed using melatonin (I take half a pill)

Yes, you can take Benadryl. It is considered safe throughout pregnancy. I have really bad allergies so I've already taken it a few times and my babies are doing great, and healthy.

Yes Benadryl is perfectly safe. I've taken it a few times throughout my pregnancy in each trimester.
