To boost the amount of iron in your diet, try these foods:
Red meat
Egg yolks
Dark, leafy greens (spinach, collards)
Dried fruit (prunes, raisins)
Iron-enriched cereals and grains (check the labels)
Turkey or chicken giblets
Beans, lentils, chick peas and soybeans
Liver
Artichokes
And here's a tip: If you eat iron-rich foods along with foods that provide plenty of vitamin C, your body can better absorb the iron.
I had this with my son and when I went down to 8.6 they had me increase my iron supplement. They also said its good to take the supplement with orange juice as it helps your body absorb iron. Under 8 is bad...so my ob said. Keep uo the supplements, ask your doctor if you're worried, and drink o.j. :)
