lunch meat

I know that lunch meat needs to be cooked before I can eat it but if I were to get a subway sandwich and get it toasted, is it cooked enough??

My doc and midwife say subway is fine as long as you get you subs toasted, I just had an Italian meat sub toasted for lunch today....

Listeriosis is real.and shouldn't be taken lightly. Just because you eat deli meat doesn't always mean it will have listeria bacteria present on it but there is no guarantee it won't unless heated to steaming. Listeriosis has been responsible for miscarriages and late term stillbirth. The way I look at it is I don't want to be that 1% or whatever it is that has a stillbirth from a fault of mine. My doctor is a big stickler for the deli meat thing

I love subway sandwiches! Since I found out that I'm pregos, I've been having them toast it twice just to be sure. As long as it's steaming hot it should be fine :)

I got food poisioning from subway a few years ago, but it can happen anywhere, pregnant or not. Listeria is the big thing with lunch meat but it can also live on fruits and vegetables if not washed properly. There's always a risk.
Safeway is my favorite place to get a Sammy :)

There is nothing wrong with eating deli meat. Packaged deli meat, including subway, is precooked before it is packaged for sterilization, which makes the argument invalid.

Its cooked before its toasted. Its not actually the lunch meat that's the issue its the way its handled after its been cooked.but heating it to a steaming kills any bacteria (if there is any) but for the record I'm 31 weeks pregnant and probably ate 50 cold deli sandwiches from home and out and about. My baby girl and I are both healthy :)

My Dr told me any deli sandwich is a no no only because you don't know how clean they are and when aren't cooked at the right temp you can get sick. Only home made sandwiches are fine.
