no insurance

I am in my 13th week and I still haven't seen a doctor because I have no insurance and cannot get insurance until November 14 because of Obama care. I am really stressed. I've been taking a prenatal vitamin since I found out but I have a history of preterm birth so I am very worried. Does anyone have any advice on what I should do until I get insurance?

Obamacare is real.  It's the Affordable Care Act really but nicknamed Obamacare.  Basically it is insurance exchanges making insurance more affordable so that people can buy their own rather than not have any.  Not everyone qualifies for Medicare especially if they are working but they still can't afford the cost of insurance.  So, Obama put into place laws that require everyone to be insurance and for states to run exchanges to get that insurance hopefully for cheaper rates.  But there are some snags as the bill is new and taking some time to get it under way.  But MissKim, it's the law of the US regarding requirements for healthcare and to have coverage.

I dont have insurance and i paid my prenatal cash (in payments). If u end up in the er emergency medicaid should cover, also the delivery.

Yes bc of obamacare she was saying she couldnt apply for it until the open enrollment period. Try applying for medicaid. My insurance ends next month bc im losing my job and im due in Jan. And my daughter's insurance is now inactive and i have no idea why. Beem trying to get hold of dss for 2 weeks and still have not got a call back, i hate dealing with them its like if youre not who they want to help they'll put uoff as long as they can.

Apply for medicaid. Most states have a program for women who are pregnant and underinsured or uninsured.

Am in Minnesota there are so many free clinics for pregnant women. Not sure if your state has any of those you can research it. Most have 1 doctor and then you see midwives. Here I think they only bill 50 dollars one time, if you don't have it they won't refuse care.

Check to see if your state has prenatal medicaid. Try seeing a doctor at your local health department as well

I am not seeing my OBGYN until 12 weeks and they said that it's fine. This is my third pregnancy so I just  doing what I know I need to: reducing caffeine, taking prenatals and iron pills, and eating well. You'll be fine! Only about two weeks left. But you could always go ahead and go and pay out of pocket if you are very concerned. It would be a few hundred bucks probably, but may be worth it if you are super stressed. You wouldn't likely have to pay it all at once either. Good luck.

You should try applying for Medicaid, it varies by state but since your pregnant & don't have insurance you should qualify. The only way you wouldn't qualify for full coverage is based on your income & even if you make too much they will assess your income & require a deductible  for you to meet every month before they start paying but it helps mid November is too long to be stressing. I hope it works out for you, healthy mommy & healthy baby :).

You sound like a great mom. Keep doing what you are doing and eat healthy. If you have any major concerned you can still go to the ER. Its almost nov 14!! Try not to worry too much that wont help at all. Good luck and congrats!!!
