I had the same thing. By day 5 I was in so much pain I almost have up. I had several plugged ducts because of engorgement and I also got s plugged nipple so no milk was coming out. The best thing to do is to get baby to nurse as frequently as possible. At least every 3 hours. It will be painful at first. Use lanolin to keep the scabs moist between feedings. Your little one may swallow them during feeding. Once they fall off, stop using lanolin and express a bit of your milk and rub it onto your nipples and areolas and let them air dry. Breast milk is naturally antiseptic and will aid in healing. I did that and after 3 days my nipples didn't hurt so much and I was finally able to massage out the plugged ducts. Thankfully no mastitis. You may also want to see a lactation consultant to make sure your baby's latch is OK so that it doesn't make things worse. They may need to be checked for tongue tie. Good luck mama!
Nipple shields worked for me.
I feel your pain! Except I'm 6 weeks into breastfeeding and my nipples are still sore and feel like her gums are made of razors blades sometimes. I've been to a lactation consultant and nothings wrong so i just have to tough it out and hope the pain goes away soon.
Time, it took about 6 weeks with my son. It was excruciating pain. I was ready to stop and give up so Many times but the thought of paying for formula kept me motivated, plus better for my boy. It just hurts in the beginning. The pump hurt at that point to cause my nipples were so tender but after about 6 weeks it stopped hurting baby was on almost predictable schedule and I could pump.
Maybe try nipple shields until ur nipples start to heal? Might feel a little better.
Im so sorry ur going through this pain, but unfortunately its like prior post said. Just keep at it there is no quick fix, and sounds gross but when scabs start getting loose, with Vaseline try to remove them with out hurting ur self more, that way when ur breastfeeding, ur baby won't hurt u more like just wiggling the scab with her mouth ouch. Good luck and wishing u a fast recovery. And congrats on ur baby :)
It sounds like your doing everything you can to help yourself greatly! It will just take a little time unfortunatly. Just keep pushing, dont give up! With me by week 2 things felt a whole lot better.
When your milk comes in, your breasts will get hard and feel engorged, that's normal. The actual milk only comes in 2-3 days after the baby is born
I have no miracle quick fix for you. Just give it time. The first few weeks are the hardest and most painful. Has bubs latch been checked?
