I was a smoker before both of my pregnancies and stopped for both of them when I found out I was pregnant. There is no way at all that smoking while pregnant is ok or safe for the baby. I know its hard to quit. I still get cravings for one especially when I'm stressed but I think about my baby and how it would be unfair to him. If you really want to quit, talk to your OB about it and see if she can give you advice on what you can do or take to help you stop. Just please think of the health of your baby.

I smoked with my first two and they were both 8lb babies, no health issues to this day. Now, my third, I'm still smoking. I've had months where I've cut back a lot and then months where I've smoked more. I wish I would have quit before I got pregnant. I asked about switching to the e cigs/vapor cigs and the dr said they just don't know the risks of those in pregnancy and if I'm not going to quit then it'd be better to smoke real cigs than the e cig. Yes I am aware that smoking is not good, so don't bother with a lecture. My dr said that smoking 5 a day would be ok though. Some days, like I said, I smoke more and some days not as much. I'm 31 weeks and me and baby are healthy so far...

As a former smoker I can certainly empathize with how hard it is to quite. I struggled when it myself my first pregnancy,  finally quitting at 4 months. But I must say that it's something you should do for your baby as it's better in every way. The best way is to cut down to reduce any withdrawal symptoms for both you and the baby. You wouldn't smoke in the house or car or blow smoke in your baby's face- it's putting them at risk for all sorts of health risks in more ways than one. Don't do it while you're pregnant.

Im 30 weeks with twins I cut back a lot maybe to like 3 a day. With my son I couldn't stand the smell and stopped completely he came out great and healthy. I should've quit smoking this time but stress does get to you. Just prepare yourself for potential health issue. 2 of my siblings have asthma thier mum smoked during and around them as babies. So just educate yourself on it. It's understandable that you're stressed I am too.

Hi hun i have a 2 yr old boy and im currently 23 weeks pregnant with a lil girl, i misscarried twins inbetween, my first pregnancy i didnt smoke for a while as it made me sick but my midwife told me just stopping would give me withdrawls n even tho i was too sick with morning sickness (all day) to notice the baby would feel it so i had to have few puffs a day to eleiviate any withdraw, i cut down lots but still smoked. This pregnancy ive cut down heaps n sum days dont even have one but if i feelthe need i do. I know the stigma around this topic publically is frowned upon but  my opinion is u know u rbody n as long as ur sencible n do all the right things n is not a chain smoker i think its ok. If ur all scans n bloods r good ur baby n u r all good.

Be prepared for negative comments, as everybody knows how harmful smoking is to an unborn baby.
I myself don't smoke. But my mother does. She is currently pregnant with her fourth child. While pregnant with me, she quit smoking completely. I was born 10 days late, weighing 7lbs2oz. I have no health problems whatsoever.
With my little sister, she smoked, but cut down to a few a day. My sister was a bigger baby than me, weighing 7lbs14oz. My sister was born with asthma and was hospitalised with bronchiolitis as a small child.
With my brother she continued to smoke as she had pre-pregnancy. He was born 3 weeks early, and was not breathing when he was born. He needed resuscitating. He has a whole host of health issues. He weighed 6lbs10oz at birth and has been hospitalised many times over his life due to problems with his lungs and breathing. It is no coincidence that as her smoking during pregnancy increased, the health of each child decreased.
She is due.with her fourth child any day now. And she has not stopped smoking this pregnancy either.
