For me it was a protein that my body needed. However I got swollen front the waist down. After I started eating more meat on my meals the swelling went down. It did take over a week though.

I had my c-section on April 29th and I still have really bad swollen/ankles my dr said it should go away in a week or two. Keep your feet elevated as much as you can.
My dr also gave me some water pills that she said should help.
Hope you get to feeling better!

If they gave you pitocin before the C-section, all you can do is wait.  It goes down within a week.
