taking advil while pregnant

So I know you can take advil while you are pregnant. And with my last pregnancy I was even given 800mg ones from my doctor. But I remember them saying there was a certain week that you shouldn't due to it not letting the heart fully close. Do any of you ladies know when that is? I always try not to take anything but my back has been killing me when I first get up!  And I have a 3 year old that I have to take care of so I really need something to take care of this. Thanks

I was told only Tylenol.  You should ask your doctor again, because that doesn't sound right.

What one physician says is ok for one patient may not be the case for the next. NSAIDS are known to cause miscarriages and birth defects. You can find more information in medical journals. All drugs are a risk, just because one doctor says it is okay doesn't mean it is ok to take.

I've never heard of that.. only tylenol! They did give me vicoden but only bcuz I had a really bad abscess tooth, had already been on two diff antibiotics that weren't working and the whole side of my face was swelled up. Ur not suppose to have it while pregnant, but after going to doctors and the emergency room twice, they finally gave me a stronger antibiotic and vicoden bcuz I was in extreme pain , and hadn't ate or slept in four days bcuz of it. So if its something unbearable then see someone about it and see if they can do something more for you.

Never heard of taking advil while pregnant due to the fact it has aspirin in it let a lone 800mg that's a bit much to me. I was told only to take tylenol by several different doctors and learned it while I'm attending medical school. I normally don't take tylenol because it does nothing for me but since I'm pregnant I keep a bottle handy.

I've been told not to take anything. I've heard of others being told Tylenol is OK, but with my first I had really bad migraines and my doctor basically told me I was **** out of luck. He said if I had one bad enough that I couldn't function I could take ONE Tylenol and hope that helped give some relief..... I'm also not the type to take ANYTHING during pregnancy (and I try not to even when I'm not pregnant).

I have never heard of anyone taking advice or any of its kind during pregnancy, I asked my doc and she said strictly tylenol.
