Could I be pregnant? or irregular 10day menstrual cycle?

I have had an irregular period my whole life for starters, since i started my period it always was an every other month type of period. As I got older I ignored it.... About a year and a half/ Two years ago, I had FINALLY taken care of my menstrual cycle more than I was taking care of myself before, actually seeing a doctor about fixing my period. Up until about a year and a half ago I hadn't had a period for 3yrs straight! So my doctor ended up putting me on BC to regulate my period... My doctor reminded me that for a few months my period would probably be very heavy and crazy for a few months, like I said that was a year and a half to two years ago now  and my cycle had gone through that crazy cycle, went back to a normal type of period a lil more heavier on some occasions. The past 4months i was off my BC, STILL had normal cycles though when I stopped taking them. Until about 2-3weeks ago I went back to the doctor and got back on BC started taking it but of course i missed a few days after i started taking it. Me and My Husband had, had sex the day before i started taking my BC again, the day i started, and i do believe almost everytime i forgot to take my BC I believe we did have sex the day of or the day after.
I have had a CYCLE FOR 10days it seems?
My period was normal then 3-4days ago i thought i was done i spotted then i sorta stopped bleeding all together for a day, the next day it was more of like 2am the next day that soon i noticed i was spotting i didnt think anything of it, but its been 10days all together today. It seems the spotting is getting heavier than it was before... was/ still kinda is the brownish color but now its more brighter than it was before.
I'm just scared and nervous not just because im afraid I could be pregnant, i'm also afraid of having something extremely wrong with my cycle and that scares me. Ovarian Cancer runs deeeeep in my family, almost all the females on my mom side has had Ovarian Cancer or Ovarian Cysts...
I know i'm RAMBLING on and on I appreciate anyone who takes the time to read this beyond LONG "question/statement" I guess I just wanted to give ya'll as much background as possible so i can get the best possible answers.. Thank you again for your time and PATIENTS!

As stated, lots if not most girls are irregular especially in the early years (teen years).  Then they may get more regular and then they may not.  Some go on birth control to regulate their cycle.  Others just carry tampons with them at all times.  It's problematic when you bleed too often or if you go for longer than three months without a period. I had an especially long cycle for about a year and a half which was a period every three to four months.  I had a double issue of too much natural estrogen production and hypothyroidism.  For me, after that year and a half, I normalized on my own.  Thankful because I was waiting for my appointment with an endocrinologist who would have probably started me on thyroid medication and once on it, ugh.  Hard to normalize on your own.  This was 20 years ago and I've not had a repeat of the thyroid issue.  My period is like clockwork and I've had two children during that time (which for women who are irregular, child bearing is more difficult).

Now, if you are bleeding for a full 10 days, that's too long.  That is also something to discuss with your doctor.  There are reasons for that, such as too much progesterone or even fibroids.  Is it spotting or bleeding?

Ovarian cancer usually has no signs at all until it is advanced and you don't describe symptoms of it.  And young people do not usually get OC.

If you've had unprotected sex, the simple answer here is to take a pregnancy test.  They are sold everywhere these days.  Usually they are accurate about 2.5 weeks after your last sexual encounter.  Use first mornings pee.  But this should be ruled out before you look into anything else.

Don't let fear of possibility cause you to freeze.  Better to know and solve issues that ruminate about them doing nothing.  So, take a test and let us know!

Thank you for your advice! You are very helpful! See I thought when I started when I was little having an irregular period was normal especial because I was VERY active when I was young now I'm 25 & I think its a bit crazy to still be like this... I have a doctor appointment 2weeks from now so I can see a new doctor get a new opinion. Its 11days now as of today... My husband is going to buy us a test when he gets off work this evening so we can see if its a possibility! I'm glad you got your cycle back to normal even after having two kids! I hope can figure it out asap &get the right medical attention! I appreciate your time and patients ! I hope you have a good day! Def will let ya know!

Wondering if you've told your doc this and what was said if you did. Lots of women have irregular periods.  Women who are very athletic can have no periods at all.  But if you suspect a medical problem, a medical professional is the one to ask.  So I guess I'm wondering as well, since you're posting this on an anxiety forum, being nervous about something that goes wrong is normal.  Anxiety is a chronic ailment that makes no sense.  Severe anxiety can affect hormone levels, but so can a lot of things.  Birth control can cause very strange periods, and I'm sure cycling off and on them makes them even odder.  If you think you're pregnant, you know how to find out, but if you're having a period, well, you're obviously not pregnant, right?  So what's really up here that brought you to an anxiety forum instead of to your doctor?

Of course I talked to my doctor thats why I was put on BC this recent encounter I have not. I have an appointment 2weeks from yesterday to see a new doctor  too see what they says last time I went in told him absolutely everything & honestly he shrugged it off and said BC will help &that I shouldn't stress so much&was paying to much attention to his phone calls so I'm hoping this next visit will be more helpful .... Sorry I posted on an anxiety forum I didnt know it would offend people
