Could I be pregnant?

Hi all, I am really freaking out here. I started birth control a month and a half ago. I had unprotected sex on the day I was supposed to be ovulating (although I know on bc you don't ovulate). I ended up in urgent care a week later for being dehydrated, where I found out that my birth control would not be effective the first 2 months of using it ( I was unaware of that). It was the week of my sugar pills in the pack that started on Monday. Wednesday I had spotting (which I have never had before) it let up and I had spotting again Thursday. Friday-Sunday I had a heavier bleed, but it was not like my normal cycle. Since then I have been nauseous every morning, and it normally lasts through out the day. I have little to no desire to eat, and when I do, I can only stand to eat a few bites and then I am full and feeling queasy again. I am tired all the time, and recently have started getting lower back aches, some cramping, sensitivity to smells, and breast tenderness. I have taken some pregnancy tests and they have all come back negative so far. I was starting to think I was okay, until I tried to drink alcohol this past weekend, and felt very ill. That is when the potential father expressed that he is concerned that I may in fact be pregnant. I have read that sometimes women do not produce enough HCG to be picked up on a home pregnancy test, and it takeslonger than others.
My question is, could I be pregnant? I am confused as to why I have all the symptoms, but I am getting negative tests. I don't know that the bleeding I had was my "period". If anyone can relate/ has any advice please let me know.

Hm.  Why do you think birth control would not be effective for 2 months?  I've never heard that.  You can take a test for peace of mind but I'm doubting pregnancy if you have been taking your pill correctly and it is more just a delayed period due to being sickened with dehydration.  Illness is one of the things that can delay our period.  good luck hon
