Implantation bleeding or period

I had unprotected sex with someone on April 17th and again on April 23rd and April 24th. The last day of my birth control (before my placebo pills) was on April 24th. I was supposed to start my period on April 27th (I always start on Wednesdays during my placebo pills).

I skipped my period by starting another pack of birth control because it was my graduation weekend and I didn't want to have any accidents in my white dress. I was in the middle of moving and didn't take my pills perfectly the month after I had unprotected sex, but didn't have any sex during this month of taking my pills.

I wasn't exactly sure if my period would come on Wednesday, May 18th, because I purposely skipped my last period and because I irregularly took my birth control pills. I had brown blood/discharge on Monday, May 16th, and it has continued from that day on. It's been a mix of bright red and brown so I wasn't sure if it was implantation bleeding or if it was because I purposely skipped my last period and because I irregularly took my birth control pills. The blood/discharge wasn't super light spotting or pink and it took up about half of a tampon (but is honestly a lighter flow than my normal period).

I'm unsure if this is just a reaction to how I incorrectly took my birth control along with me skipping my period or if this is some sort of early sign of pregnancy.
