It just happens. Hormonal changes, your body changing, etc. Impossible to pinpoint why--unless you see a doctor and have testing and MAYBE see if anything shows up, and you'll just drive yourself crazy trying to figure out why if you don't.

I wouldn't really put too much thought into it. Nothing says you HAVE to get "symptoms" of your period before it comes every time. What you feel once you might not ever notice again.

Actually no, it's impossible to have a period and be pregnant. This is due to what actually happens during a menstrual cycle. As we all know, every month in preparation for ovulation your uterine lining starts to become more thick. You will then ovulate, and you have a 12-24 hour window before the egg dissolves. If in this time frame a male ejaculates in you, and the sperm meet up with the egg it becomes fertilized and starts to divide. It will then work it's way down and embed into the lining and start to grow. If it remains unfertilized, the lining sheds in the form of your menstrual cycle. If you shed this while pregnant, the baby has nothing to grow on and you therefor miscarry.

There are millions of stories of women who have "periods" while pregnant. Just because you see blood doesn't mean it's a period. Hell, I've seen a day of spotting called a period. You don't have to have signs of a period for it to be one. Is the flow normal?

When I was pregnant with my son I had bleeding about one week after my period was due.  It was bright red but only enough to fill the tissue when I wiped and then it stopped.

It's possible that you might be pregnant and the test you used didn't detect it yet.  Make sure you use your first morning urine and pick a good test.  I prefer First Response but not the digital version.

I hope this helps! :)

Of course it can. Not all women get indicators their cycle is going to start. For example, I used to have irregular ones and I didn't know when it was going to come until I was already soaked in blood.

This bleeding you had today and the other day. How much of it is there.

It is possible as well it could just be your cycle starting. Monitor the bleeding over the next few days and see what it does. If it resembles your normal cycle, likely that's what it is.

I would definitely say go for blood work. The bleeding could be due to a few different things, and it's impossible to pinpoint the real cause. Ask for your doctor for a beta blood test and find out what your hCG is at.
