Period during pregnancy

I am ttc my second child. I have taken pt and the results are negative. I had my period for the first 4 months with my first but did not take tests. Would the pregnancy hormone HcG be evident if I am still having a period? Or does the period have to stop in order for it to show positive results?

when i found out I was pg with #1 it was because around the time i was supposed to start my period I spotted but then it never came.  I took a test the next week and it was +.  if bleeding is lighter and unlike a period it could be implantational bleeding.  tests should show + 3-4 days after implantation.  however sometimes they don't I'm having some problems with hpt's myself right now!!!!

signs or m/c are HEAVY bleeding/clotting and alot of cramping from what I've heard. but never experienced it to know for sure

it is possible to still get a period or abnormal bleeding in the first trimester but VERY uncommon.

in any of these cases you should see a obgyn  if you have no insurance there are clinics that do u/s and testing for free just look them up i found one in the yellowpages under pregnancy.

I have pregnancy symptoms. Nausea, swollen breast, darkening nipples, and I've gained about 7 pounds all in the belly area with no change in diet and I have been menstruating on time every month. I even took a pregnancy test but the results were negative...Is it possible that I could be pregnant?? Does anyone know?

The horomone HCG is produced by the placenta so yes it would be present but not all females process HCG into their urine so it is also possible to get a negative test and still be pregnant.

But my question is whether or not the hormone is evident if you are having a period. I know it's possible to have a period if you are pregnant...I had mine for the first 4 months of my first pregnancy. The only way to get a positive result is to have the hormone present...is it present if you have a period???? Please help!!!!

I got my period on 9/14 and am pregnant.  However I just found out today that I will be losing the baby due to my blood work...Beta's are falling.  Anyway yes though rare you can still get your period and be pregnant....
