period or pregnancy?
i had a colposcopy one week ago and have now missed my period. I thought i was pregnant before and i still have pregnancy symptoms but i keep testing negative on urine tests....what could it be?
ok so im now two weeks late on my period and still feeling nauseous everyday with sore boobs. my new question is if im not pregnant, and my period is two weeks late, would I still ovulate normally?
i believe they just looked for pos/ng cut off level and surprisingly the midifery did not look at my cervix really. when she did the ultrasound she just said that my uterus wasnt moving up which didnt mean anything because if i was it would be so early that it wouldnt start moving anyways and again at first she couldt tell if she was seeing anything or not but after a couple minutes of looking she concluded there was nothing but again said that if i was it would have possibly been too early to see anything anyways. what was interesting to me was that after i got my blood results back a DIFFERENT midwife from the ofice called me back asking me to go back to redo the test in two weeks if i still have not had a period. my jan period is due in two wks and i still have no spotting or anything. im still so nauseous fluttery in my stomach and starting yesterday my boobs have been so tender that lifting my arms or carrying anything makes me wanna cry even just wearing a bra hurts. the doc i saw was so convinved i was pregnant until she read the blood results back. she even sent me home with a prescription for prenatal pills.
Im so sorry you have been waiting so long! I know how frustrating it is waiting for answers. I think the only reason why mine got back so fast is because the office is in a main hospital and they charged my insurance extra for a rush report (cant wait to see that bill) so if you are any idea of how far along ud be?i hope u get ur results soon and the answer desire! :)

At least your midwifery moves faster than mine I've been waiting 8 days on blood test results so far LOL what with Christmas and all it's really not fair.
Like you said, stress can make you skip a period (and all the thinking you're preggo can make it take even longer). By the time you've skipped two or three in a row though, they should be able to give you a solid answer. This one might just be a waiting game.

Odds of being pregnant with negative hpt are roughly 6% according to a Britisth study done about 10 years ago that compared urine tests to blood tests. Probably slightly higher with the rare cases involving moms who get negatives on both and have to be confirmed via ultrasound.
When you had your exam, did anyone tell you whether your cervix was closed or the lining on your uterus looked like it had thickened up? These can be early indicators of pregnancy even if they can't find a sac yet (it's quite common to not see a defined sac before 6 weeks, and it can take longer if you have a physical issue like a tilted uterus).
Do you know if they checked to see whether you had any HcG at all in your system? Or just looked for a certain positive/negative cutoff level?

Sill so frustrated! my blood test was neg. but i got a call the next day from another midwife in the office who wants me to repeat the test in three weeks if i havent had my period yet and suggests i start prenatal vitamins now. there HAS to be someone out there whose gone through something similiar to this.... :(
saw the doctor today....the urine test there was neg. as well. Im currently waiting on blood results which ill have this afternoon but i assume already they will be neg. :( they did an ultrasound and she couldnt tell if she was seeing anything or not at first but then she concluded that there was no sack, however she did say it would have been to early to see anything anyways and i should start prenatal vitamins just in case. Thanks though everyone for your comments! maybe ill have better luck next time! :)
so one thing ive continued to forget to add is that the day after my colposcopy i started bledding right away after the iodine blob came out. I only bled on and off for two days but I was still worried so I went back to the doc. and she told me it was cervical bleeding because she had clipped a capillary by mistake (yeah thats one of the reasons why i just switched offices). anyways....the more i read up on things the more im wondering if maybe that put my body in too much stress and THATS why i skipped a period? ive NEVER skipped periods before and my cycle was perfectly normal a year ago after i had a colposcopy granted that one was actually done correctly. ive only got two more days until i go do the blood test and im trying to prepare myself for both a pos. or a neg. result.....ladies do you have any advice?
The midwifery probably think im crazy...i moved my appointment one day earlier (thats the earliest they had) in hope that some how theyll get the results by the weekend and ill know if my three year old will be getting what she wanted for christmas hahaha yes when i asked my daughter what she wanted for christmas from santa she said "um...i just want him to bring me a sister mommy" :) shes my sweetheart <3
its a midwifery in a hospital....its a new office to me so im not familiar with their processes
it usually takes 48 hours if its a place inside your drs office sometimes even sooner...good luck
Yeah ive been checked for everything and everything came up neg. no cycst, infection, nothin. counting down the days til i do the blood test. does anyone know how long it takes to get the results back from the blood test? i realize i can ask the doc on friday but im just curious if anyone has any idea
LOL yeah the waiting is crazy.
Even birth control can fail once in awhile. If you've been checked and cleared for the most likely alternate explanations (cysts, etc.) then pregnancy's a reasonable guess. Hope the blood test helps.

i feel like a pee on a stick aholic i keep having to fight the urge to test all day hahaha but even with each neg. i havent lost hope yet cause there's no sign of a period yet. thanks everyone for the comments! im glad to hear that it IS at least possible to test neg. after a missed period but still be pregnant. Again i am VERY hopeful but if the blood test is neg. then its not meant to be right now.
I didnt get a positive until 15, days after my missed period. Took a test when i was 9 days late and it was neg. Took another one 6 days later and it was positive. I would wait and test.again.
:) thank you! by the time i tested for my last pregnancy i was very far past due for my period so i am really hoping that its just too early right now. I will remain hopeful until my doctors appointment and if my blood results come back negative then i will write it off that its just not meant to be at this moment in time. crossing all my fingers and toes though for now!!
I got a neg 3 times before I finally got a pos. I test 7,8 and 12 days after my period was to start. Got the pos 17days after:) good luck!!!
so still no period...stopped taking my bc ten days ago and usually if i miss just one pill i start spotting. still testing negative though :( anyone know what the odds are of being pregnant but testing negative? my mind is going nuts with the hope that im pregnant but i still have six days til i see the doc for a blood test
not a colonoscopy a colposcopy which is done when you have an abnormal pap which i did a year ago so this was a follow up. my last period was around nov. 9th i had a normal period for about 6 or 7 days then it stopped for a few days and i spotted for a couple days so i stopped taking my bc but continued having sex for a week that according to my nifty app on my phone i may have been ovulating according to how my cycles have been running. if i had not missed a week and stayed on the pill my period should have been a week ago. according to the pill pack from when i started it back up im two days late. four years ago i was on this same pill i missed a couple pills within the same week so i took plan b.....i found out 6 weeks later i was pregnant :) as i said above though i realize it may just be wishful thinking...but i think a woman can read her own body better than anyone and mine is definitely telling me somethings going on. ive had a lot of test done for infections, cervical cancer, bacteria, cysts, everything but everything came out clear. my doctor told me to take a test every other day for a week and then go in for a blood test if im still testing neg and havent had a period. i did two tests before i went to the doc about two weeks ago one came out unreadable and one came out with one line and a speck of a second line but then a week later at the doctor office it was neg....? she said it was probably just too early at that point to test
I know symptoms can easiy be explainable by many other things :( I know it may be just wishful thinkng. things just feel...i donno..diferent. Im also the most impatient person in the world haha so knowing me ill end up testing every other day til its pos. or i get my period... wish me luck!
You may have tested too soon, wait a week or two and test again. If it is negative then and you haven't started your period call your doctor for a blood test. Also symptoms do not mean anything, don't try to diagnose pregnancy by the symptoms as they are symptoms for so many things.

As for the rest of it, well, urine tests are not for everyone but I sure wish someone would tell the doctors! About 6% of women who fail a urine test will show up pregnant on blood work. This is especially true if you aren't very far along but there are also rare women who never get a positive pee test. Something about kidney function. Again, this is pretty unusual.
Do you have any idea how far along you'd be if you were pregnant? When was your last period?
