unusually late period but negative pregnancy test?

ktl
Hi! It's my first time posting--hello everyone!
Just have a question that someone might be able to help with...
Ever since I got married I have had a VERY regular 28 day menstrual cycle--never late, never early.
We are trying to get pregnant, and today I am at least five to six days late for my period.
I did a pregnancy test this morning that came up negative.
How reliable is that result since I usually have such a normal cycle?
I don't have any other symptoms besides frequent urination and butterflies in my stomach that could just be from the excitement of the whole situation.
So I guess my question is whether or not it is "worth it" to take another pregnancy test; if so, when; or, what else could even be the cause of such a delay in my usually predictable period?
Thanks for any comments, etc!
Katie L.

Beta HCG came back NEGATIVE guess i just have to wait for AF to start.  Do you think I could still get pregnant if it doesnt start back for a few weeks/months?

Hey guys! Wanted to let you all know AF stopped by yesterday :( and it's in full swing...and I didn't even take the Provera the doc had given me...so that pretty much confirms the negative tests! Hopefully will have better luck next time :(

Its reassuring to see im not alone!!!  The first day of my last period was the 28th  August 11 and im usually very regular 30-31 day cycle but now im over a week late and nothing!!! I have taken around 4 pregnancy tests and all negative, im so frustrated!  My breasts are so sore and tender and i have a lot of lower back pain.  I went to my Dr last week when I was a week late but I was even more annoyed as he was so dismissive "these things just happen some time" thats what he said!!! He said he wouldnt sent me for any sort of a consultation until I was 6 months late!!!  I have been trying to conceive since January and had a miscarriage in June at 6 weeks!!!  My breasts feel the same as they did then!  Dr did a Beta HCG level blood test but the results arent back yet! He also checked my thyroid and full blood count which are all fine!!!! Really really frustrated whats going on with my body!!!!!  I will post back when I get my blood results maybe it will be good news but im not too optimistic

Hi girls, don't know if you remember my post but just briefly I posted last month with all the signs of pregnancy, late period and negative result. I came on 7 days late in the end so unfortunately was not pregnant.
However I found out today, one month on that I am pregnant! I felt sick, had bad cramps in my back as though I was coming on, 4 days late I done a test and it was positive!
I just wanted to share this as I know it is so disheartening if your trying for a baby only for it to turn out that your not pregnant every month that passes by BUT you will! It might not have happened this month but the next month is always another chance for you! My biggest advice is just try to relax, I think that was what prevented me from getting pregnant. This month I told myself that it didn't matter, it will happen when it is supposed to and then it did! Just chill! Baby dust to you all! xx
