So I went for my first appointment yesterday at 8 weeks. Due to my previous miscarriage I had an internal exam done, and my Doctor (Who is a GP not OBGYN) told me that my uterus felt small for 8 weeks. He then said that he wasn't overly optimstic that the pregnancy was viable. I go for my first ultrasound on Monday, but I am pretty nervous as to what we will see. My last ultrasound during my last pregnancy there was nothing left, so Im really worried that all we'll see again is an empty uterus. I have had no pain or bleeding, so.... I dont really know what to think. I'm just worried.
He is not an OB - what does he know you know??.....I don't trust those GP in the least. They are not specialize at all in pregnancy. HOw did he feel your uterus anyhow?? I would not be concerned and try to get an OB immediately who knows what they are doing. Not sure how he could give you such information from a simple internal exam. UGH - those idiot docs make me mad. I am sorry you have to be experiencing this - keep your head up high and trust your body - not your doc.
m first appointment was at 10 weeks and 2 days(so i thought) but my OB said that i'm feeling smaller so i will also be getting an ultrasound done/. but i have to wait until the 17th! which really stinks! :(
you havent had any weird symptoms or discomfort so i honestly wouldn't be worried but i dont know what happened the last time u had an empty uterus.
good luck with your appointment and ultrasound! keep us updated. ill keep you and ur little bean in my prayers.
Poor you, Please try not to worry... GP's are not qualified to give you that sort of diagnosis... they are 'General Practitioners' and know a little bit about alot of things and are NOT experts in any fields.
I would look at the positives firstly what does his opinion count for... how many uteruses has he actually examined to base that 'diagnosis on'? He hasn't based his judgement on facts like bloodtests etc. You are also not having any symptoms to suggest that something is wrong so don't let his stupid opinion scare you.
I know its difficult but try and stay positive, each pregnancy is new and not related in anyway to the last, just because it went wrong last time doesnt mean it will be that way this time. Try and have faith that all will be ok. Good luck for your U/S. Take care :)
Great News!! Our ultra sound was wonderful!! we got to see the heart beating away, and we got to hear it too!! 146 beats. Turns out I was about 5 days behind what I thought, so my new due date is April 10th. I was soooo releaved to see that little heart beating away! Now I go for my ten week appt on thursday, so here's hoping everything is still on track!!
BradyAM-- I hope all is well for you too!! I would be crazy if I had to wait until the 17th though!
You could just be not as far along as your LMP would put you..I wouldnt worry until you see an OB & have your ultra sound. For my 1st ultra sound they only saw a sack and the dr wasnt sure how preg I was until my next one just two days later when he saw so much more. Good Luck!
