I know it's kind of late to start it now but I figure it can't hurt to try so I just bought some epo capsules and was wondering how much I should take orally and how much inserted vaginally? I'm due in 4 days and just trying to get my cervix to soften and dilate... I've researched it online but everyone takes different amounts and I don't know where to start!!
im not sure if this is pure coincidence or not but heres my stiry on EPO... i went to dr on thursday and was 1cm dialted cervix still long and thick.. around 8p i took a shower and inserted one capsul i believe they are 1300 mg caps.... but i inserted one and layed down... around 1230 i wasnt really able to get to sleep and wanted to soak in the bath... i ended up cleaning the entire bathroom before i got in the bath ( for some reason i juat couldnt get in with out cleaning first probably some nesting going on...) but i soaked in the bath and got out... inserted anoth capsule and layed down. by 130a was having mild contractions about 10-12 minutes apart was able to fall back asleep in between... by 330 they were coming 6-7 minutes apart and getting more intense... i got up and got back in the bath which wasnt helping too much so i got out and got on birthing ball around 5a contractions were very painful and 3-4 minutes apart by the time i got to hospital about 515 i was now 3-4 cm and in active labor... sooo long story short i went from 1cm to 3-4 cm and active labor in about 8 hours but like i said i dont know if was just ready to go into labor or if it was the evening primrose oil that helped jump start everything but i was 40 weeks on the dot and haddnt had any activity the couple weeks prior to this... one thing i can say is if they didnt help they sure didnt hurt! i say give it a try and see what happens! good luck
also if you do try it you are better off inserting them vaginally to give the prostoglandins direct contact to your cervix just push it up as far as you can reach and it will only take a few minutes to dissovle and if you can try to lay down so it all doesnt just drip out and maybe put on panty liner so your undies dont get stained fromthe oil.
Gosh I hope my bight goes similar to that lol I am going to put two in before bed and I took one orally with dinner so we will see what happens! I really don't want to get my hopes up but I just dont understand how I can be nearly 40 weeks and completely closed! The dr couldn't even do a sweep to get things going because he couldn't get a finger in there ): I hope this stuff helps!
Well, it didn't do anything for me besides make it so I couldn't sleep (probably just because I was hoping something would happen) and I woke up with an upset tummy ): I'm going to keep using them at night until my apt Friday and my dr said we will talk about inducing then if nothing happens sooner
