breastfeeding....

i know this isnt a pregnancy question but most of us have already had our babies and i just really like getting your opinions.... so i gave birth last friday and came home sunday... on sunday i notices a couple lumps under my armpit that are some what painful.... does any one know what this could be from? is it from breastfeeding? i know you have breast tissue under your arm.... should i be concerned or let dr know if so do i call the OB or my primary dr?

oh and for those still hanging in there good luck! cant wait to see your birth announcements!!!

ok thanks ladies! and steph i definately know the feeling... i am already large breasted but since birth and especially since i have a good milk supply going on the have nearly doubled in size and very sore and between nursing and pumping its funny i can tell when its time to feed because they ache like crazy and start to leak and within a matter of minutes baby begins to wake up like he smells the milk on my shirt!!!

it is probably just from breastfeeding..I too am breastfeeding and have some lumps in my breast..my breast have gotten so big they hurt all the time and I agree that a hot compress does work and just make sure that you have a good supportive bra

sounds like mastitis i never got it so dont have much info on it but thats what it was described to me as painfull lumps and swelling the doctor said if i did get it the best thing to do would be warm water massage and to carry on breastfeeding as much as possible should soon clear up :)

I would definately think its related to BF. If so, warm/hot compresses (as hot as you can stand) and gentle massage will most likely help. It could also be a swollen lymph node, in which case massage may make it more sore. Either way, the compresses should help. Congrats on your new LO!
