Lol. I thought you were going to say something like Wilfred. Allen doesn't seem too old to me, but I've mostly seen it as a middle name. My brother & step-dad both have Alan as their middle names. However, the spelling "Allen" I've only ever seen as a last name. You can check it's popularity in the US at the social security database website. Just Google search "social security database baby names". It won't have this year, but it has from 1880 until last year. Good luck deciding.
