Help with baby's name

So 2 years ago when we first started trying to get pregnant my husband said he'd like to use his Grandfather's name if we have a boy & I agreed. Now I'm not sure that is would make a good first name (seems old to me) and would like to use it as a middle name. My hubby is upset & says I'm changing my mind now that i know it's a boy.
How do you feel about the name Allen?

our agreement is i name if a girl,  he will if a  boy.  guys sometimes need that connection.

Totally thinking it was going to elvy or Solomon. Allen isn't too old I grew up with a few (I'm 27). I like t as a middle tho. Like Logan Allen, or Nolan Allen

Not old fashioned at all quite a few alan's in my sons daycare and spelling it different just makes it more unique

Lol. I thought you were going to say something like Wilfred. Allen doesn't seem too old to me, but I've mostly seen it as a middle name. My brother & step-dad both have Alan as their middle names. However, the spelling "Allen" I've only ever seen as a last name. You can check it's popularity in the US at the social security database website. Just Google search "social security database baby names". It won't have this year, but it has from 1880 until last year. Good luck deciding.
