most feeding guides are made for formula, not breast milk. babies consume less breastmilk than formula because they can digest it more efficiently. my first dd took 4 ounce feeds until she was 5 months, and she was very healthy and chubby.
He's fine!! Cooper is a little older, 12 weeks, and he eats 4-5 ounces at a time, 7-8 times a day. At his 2 month appt, his dr stressed that he should be eating FIVE 6-ounce bottles a day, and NONE overnight. Really??? He eats three just at daycare!! I think she is implying that i am overfeeding him but how can i NOT feed him when he's hungry?? Every baby is different and i think we moms just hafta go with the flow at this point... = )
Thanks ladies! Glad to know he is in the norm!!!!
My little guy is 12 weeks and he is eating about 4-5 ounces every 3 hours. So I think that your guy is eating the appropriate amount. As long as he is having enough dirty/wet diapers then he should be fine. Another measure is if he is gaining weight. You have to remember that every baby is different and that a book just tells you what the average is. Your baby may eat more or less. Your baby will also let you know if he isn't getting enough he will be fussy after he eats.
Sounds normal to me. Taylor is acualy only taking 2-3 ozs every 3-4 hours now. I dont know if its the new Rx formula or what because she used to eat 5 ozs every 3 hours. She has had so many tummy issues though........ She has also been sleeping through the night, and if she does wake up to eat, its very little and she back to sleep.
Cruz sounds like he is eating good to me. Similac sent me a feeding guidline chart. It says that babies 1-3 months should be eating 3-4 oz per feeding. average ozs per day, around 24 , sometimes more sometimes less, depending.
