no heartbeat found on ultrasound

Hi!  I'm 7 weeks pg today.  I have been going for weekly transvaginal ultrasounds due to my age (41) and a history of progesterone deficiency.  The first showed a gestational sac measuring 9mm and a yolk sac measuring .  Second showed a gestational sac measuring 1cm, yolk sac and fetal pole measuring 2mm.  Third (12/16) showed gestational sac measuring 2cm, yolk sac and fetal pole (don't know measurments) but no heartbeat.  I'm having another on 12/23.  Should I be concerned a heartbeat hasn't been detected yet?  Should the fetal pole have grown enough in 7 days for it to be seen earlier this week?

Hi, im new to this forum. I found out i was pregnant in march of this year, 5 days before my dating scan ( i should've been 12 wks) i noticed dark brown blood, was sent to epc and had a u/s and vaginal scan and they told me there was only an empty sac, 4 days later i miscarried and ended up having a d&c.Just over a month later i found out i was pregnant again i should be 8 wks now, woke this morning to find i was bleeding again, got sent to epc again and had a scan, this time they are tellin me that they can see a sac of fluid but were not 100% sure whether i wasn't as far along as i thought ( they think i might be around 5wks) or that i am miscarrying again. they've told me to go away and come back in a wks time so they can scan me again. i am really scared an don't think i can cope with another m/c. I still feel nauseaous and my breasts are still swollen and tender.

It is best to have another scan after a week. I have heard of incidents of no heartbeat at week 7 and then at week 8, it is there! Some babies can develop more slowly, so stay hopeful and all the best.

Doctors will often wait until you are 8 weeks pregnant just to make sure that the baby has had time to develop.  By going before 8 weeks, they say, that there is a chance you won't see or hear the heart.  However given your history, I can see why they are following you closely...  I hope everything works out for you!  Good luck!

When I went to the ER on Monday and was exactley 7 weeks, the dr and u/s tech said it may be too early to hear a heartbeat and not to be suprised if they couldn't find one yet.  We did, but they said it does not happen in all cases.  I really hope they can find something the next time.  i am sure you are having so many fears, but I got my Christmas miracle and I pray that you do too.  Good Luck!

They should see the heart flutter by 5wks 5days and a stong beat by week 6. If your are 7weeks and no heartbeat I'm so sorry to say that you may have miscarried. However don't give up hope maybe you-ll see the heartbeat on the next ultrasound.
