Packing a bag for the hospital...

This is sad, but I can't remember what we are supposed to pack. I have the baby's outfit, hat, socks, bib and recieving blankets. Anybody have a good list?

DON'T FORGET THE BABY WIPES!!! I just read it. It was on the list I got at the hospital where I'm taking childbirth classes.
Oh yes, and the nursing pillow...you know.. boppy pillows....

Thanks ladies! These are all great and made me realize all the things I still need to get packed. We're about an hour away so I need to bring everything!

Great idea about the camera and list of phone numbers. I also was glad I packed my own towels, unless you want to use a hand towel sized towel to dry off after a shower and flip flops to wear in the bathroom. We were glad we had an ipod and docking station, energy drinks and snacks and breath mints :) during labor.

I brought a couple of outfits for my baby. The hospital had a photographer come in and I was glad I had a couple cute things for her to take pics in. We also used our own receiving blanket for her to wear in the nursery. It made her easy to spot. Also a nursing cover is great to have for when guests come in the room. Don't forget your phone charger or camera battery charger.

Don't forget to stock up on things to have when you come home from the hospital.
Here is a list of things I either forgot about or was glad I had at home because they would have been embarrassing or difficult to have someone else get.
Good shirts to nurse in
Maxi pads (different sizes)
Tucks Pads
Dermoplast pain relieving spray
Breast pads (at least 2 boxes)
Colace (stool softener) or Metamucil
Pre-natal vitamins
Advil & Tylenol
Extra toilet paper (more than what a girl usually uses)
nursing bras
Lansinoh (Lanolin)
Cash for when friends run errands for you
Lots of water bottles to have when you are breast feeding at home

Half the stuff you dont need. My bag has been packed for weeks. I have 2 going home outfits for the baby plus a blanket.Loose fitting going home outfit for myself and clothes for DH in case he has to come straight from work.Comfy Bra size or 2 bigger than you are now.( I like the sports type one to support your huge breasts when your milk comes in.) You can bring PJs but at first wear the hospitals as you bleed alot. I bring 3 pair of cheap underwear because I dont like the mesh ones they give and just throw them out after. Toiletry basics for us both.Snacks, book and spare cash. Camera and extra batteries( they always seem to run out right when you need).Pillow.List of numbers to call when baby arrives.

I have thought about my bag butthats as far as I've gotten. I really need to sit down and make a list and get it packed.

Oh, those are good tips. I have also packed my bag and was on my way of finding out what we are supposed to put in the bag.
Karen, lol it is not sad. It's not like we give birth every day to remember every detail :-) Don't feel bad.
Let's see, I put a pacifier, a blanket for when we leave the hospital, a gown, socks, a hat, another cute outfit (for photo purposes lol), a little brush just in case he is hairy lol, burpcloths and his birth certificate already filled out and signed.

I packed my stuff but I know I'll need to put some Ibuprofen for my husband and mom, maybe some calming tea, especially for my mom LOL, pillows, my camera and I think that's it. I will have to google it though :-) But living so close to the hospital makes it all easier. If I'm missing something anyone could just come to my house and get it.

We wish we would have packed pillows. My husband needed advil and they won't give any to non patients.
