Abdominal Pain While Sleeping. 18 weeks

I am 18 weeks 3 days pregnant. I have recently niticed while sleeping that when i turn to roll over onto my sides that i am getting a kind of stabbing pain under the right side of my ribs. This only happens while i am on my back rolling onto one of my sides. As soon as i am turned over, the pain seems to stop. I am not sure what it could be and why it is happening. is thins something normal? I have also heard that it is a bad sign if I feel any type of cramping in my lower abdominal area, along the same line as menstral cramping. I sometimes feel those cramps too. Is this something to be worried about. At my appointments the doctor says that the baby's heart beat is great and he is always moving around on the monitor, even though I cant yet feel him. But these pains are something that are scaring me. This is my first pregnancy and I have no idea what to expect.

Oh my sister...try to get used to it...it only gets more uncomfortable to try to sleep as the pregnancy rolls on. aches pains braxton hicks contractions and a big ol baby punching you from the inside all seem to get going right when you want to sleep! oh have I mentioned your enormous uterus pushing on your bladder making you have to pee about every 5 mins? that's fun at night too.  Ha  ha I hope you are laughing right now because I am just being a trouble maker! although everything i've said is true, you will forget it all when you hold that precious baby in your arms. All of these aches and pains will be sooooo worth it!!

My guess is it's round ligament pain. It's a little unusual for it to be under your ribs...but lower abdomen is very common. It's a sharp, stabbing pain that subsides once you relax, right? I'm 20 weeks and I've had it lots of times lately. Look it up online and see if the description sounds right!

If you are still concerned, call your doctor just to put your mind at ease. They are used to calls from us worried pregnant women!
