Thanks to all for your feedback! It helps relieve at least some of my anxiety. I have a follow-up with my doctor tomorrow afternoon when I should get my questions answered. Funny how slow time goes when you're worried sick! Thank you again!! Take care...
i got told my second was too small and he was born a perfectly healthy 6lbs 9 1/2ozs. not all developing babies go by the rules, don't worry
I agree with Heather. Remember that there is a normal range of weights for a newborn baby, so it makes sense that all babies don't mesure *exactly* the same at any given point on a sono. My babies have all been very close in weight (7 lb 15oz, 7 lb 12oz, and 8lb 1oz), but their sonograms were up to a week and a half off on dates.
A good rule of thumb-- if your doctor isn't worried, you shouldn't either! = )
My daughter measured small with 2 of her 3 babies in the first and second trimester. Just as all human beings are different sizes in the outside world, so seems that babies can be that way too. The two babies that she had, that measured small in the beginning, caught up quickly. They came in at 6 pds. 12 ozs. at birth (girl, born at 35 weeks) and the next baby they said was small was 8 pounds 15 ozs. (boy, born at 35 1/2 weeks)
So since your baby seems to be doing just fine otherwise, I wouldn't worry about the small difference they have reported. Babies have a way of catching up at their own speed.
One thing to keep in mind, your baby is healthy or your doctor would have told you otherwise. You probably will be shocked at your baby's growth at the next ultrasound. Good luck dearheart.

Hi. What did the perinatologist say about the measurements? I actually measured larger, and they said everything was fine even though, so I'm sure it would be the same in your case, you just happen to be measuring smaller. Then again, I'm not a doctor so I cant say for sure, but I'd guess its pretty normal that some go bigger and some go smaller(within reason). We'll see what some of the others have to say... good luck hun! :)
