Just curious- what's your heartrate?

I know this can vary from person to person, but I was wondering what your pulse is now. Is it much higher than before you were pregnant?

I am having a LOT of problems with my heart. I had it with my last pregnancy, but it was milder and much later in pregnancy. This past week has been horrible with my HR being out of control and palpatations. I'm seeing a cardiologist tomorrow. I don't think it's stress since my blood pressure is actually relatively low.

I have been wondering how you have been doing.  I remember my senior year of high school having to wear the moniter for a day because I was having crazy heart palps and the dr. didn't like the way my pulse was skipping beats.  Everything else too was normal and they never did figure out what was wrong.  With you being pregnant I think you should see the pulmonologist and see what they can find.  If your OB thinks you should go, he must think they can find something out to help you.  Please try to take it easy until you figure out what is going on.  I think you should def get the temp handicap permit just to be safe!  Good luck.

Sorry... i've been very busy and when not busy, i've been so tired.

To answer most inquiries, some palpatations and increase in HR is normal during pregnancy.

My cardiologist was very befuddled. He definitely does not like my case because he can't figure out what's wrong- just like last time. i wore the halter all day yesterday, so hopefully it will give some answers as to what's going on... even if he can't say why. He even suggested a couple of times that i see someone who specializes in this (he thinks it may be related to my preeclampsia last time, but my OB disagrees). He's confused because my bloodwork is perfect, my blood pressure is low, and my heart is structurally sound.

My OB was disappointed in what my cardiologist had to say. he said we could go see another cardiologist, but he also suggested i see pulmonologist since shortness of breath is a consistant symptom. it's a long shot, but maybe the high HR is due to shortness of breath and not vice versa. Plus, he knows the pulmonologist he recommended well, and feels he is a good diagnostician and won't just sit and scratch his head.

I have been feeling a little better. I still have a high HR, palpatations, and shortness of breath but it's not as extreme. My cold is mostly gone, so i suspect that was exasperating things. I am back at work, and doing OK. The worst part is walking to and from the building and up the stairs. that always leads to palpatations. My cardiologist said that if necessary, we can get me a temporary handicap parking permit. I think that might help.

I am so glad to read that heart palpitations are normal. I didn't know it's another pregnancy symptom.  When I walk a couple of flights of stairs or even race up one flight in my home, I can feel my heart really racing and i'm completely out of breath.  This is not normal for me and I thought maybe it was due to the fact that I haven't been on an exercise routine since I became pregnant.  I definitely feel my heart beats faster than it used to.

Tiredbuthappy - Let us know how the cardiologist appt goes. I'm curious to see what the doctor tells you.  Best of luck. I'm sure it's nothing.

i am not sure what my heart rate normally is...very normal though, but in the first 10 weeks it sometimes felt like I drank 10 energy drinks when I was laying in bed.  I can tell it is def higher now, but nothing I am worried about.  Please let us know how it goes tomorrow!

I usually have a very low heartrate - my resting rate is normally in the 60s and my normall blood pressure is around 110/70. I also had problems with palpatations  with my daughter (late in pregnancy) - I ended up going to the ER one day because they were so bad. Tests all came back fine and the resounding answer from the doctors is that palpatations are common in pregnancy.

I've started having them again this pregnancy though not frequently yet. I hope that all works out for you. :)

I normally have a slow heartbeat in the 60's but since pregnant my heartrate has gone up into the 90's. Sometimes I feel like its pounding out of my chest. I am not really worried about it though since I have no heart problems. Good luck to you...
