ear infection??

For the past few days my two month old, while eating his bottle, will jerk his head from side to side.  It's not that he doesn't want the bottle, because he goes right back to it, but for some reason keeps slinging his head.  He also cries out occasionally as if in pain.
He has also gone from getting up once thru the night to waking 4 or 5+ times.  He is not hungry, just restless; will go back to sleep then wake 5 minutes later over and over again
The head slinging has got me wondering if he could possibly have an ear infection.  Has anyone seen this symptom in their child with an ear infection??  He has no other symptoms...
I hate to make a trip to the doctor for nothing, exposing him to worse things like h1n1, not to mention that i can't really afford to take off work..... Any experience or advice?  Is he too young to have an ear infection?

oh, good idea!  i did take him to the doc and he dd NOT have an ear infection.  Maybe it is time to move up to 3 mo+ nipples instead of 1 mo+.  Thanks for the idea!

I don't know if this could be the problem but does he wimper when he is eating his bottle.  I  was thinking that maybe he needs a faster flowing nipple?? Just a suggestion if he isn't on a medium flow nipple.  My son was wimpering a lot when getting his bottles and it was because it wasn't coming out fast enough.
