Baby showers and baby rooms :)
Hi Ladies,
Thought this would be a fun topic to check in with all of you and see if you have your showers planned yet? Then we can talk about how they went? Also, do you guys have your nusery in the works? If so, what are your themes/colors?
This is my first baby, so I am super excited to celebrate with all of my friends/family. My sister in law is planning mine it is on May 22nd I will be around 30 weeks by then. Invites went out this weekend! I wanted to do it early, so that I can have everything all ready and be able to relax around my due date. I only registered at one store which is Target (have tons of family out of state that won't make it so wanted to make it easy). I don't have anything I need, so I did add the stroller, carseat, swing, pack and play. Everything else is smaller and affordable (felt bad adding too many big expensive items). We invited 45-50 guests that are local.
I am having a boy, and we are painting his room today a green color instead of blue. But, decorating with blue, green, beige, brown and white. Trying to keep things solid and add sports stuff into the mix. I get my furnature at the end of this month (gift from the parents).

Woah to the people with 100 plus guests! Lol. I think i would have like 20 at the most! I registered at target & babies r us, i was going to register at walmart but the employees made me so mad i said forget it and leaving it up to people to look at the list then get it cheaper elsewhere lol.
My baby shower is on June 5th, I will be 31 weeks. Probably won't have too many people as my daughter will be just finishing radiation treatments and I don't want too many germs in the house. Everyone will be asked to not come if they have any sign of illness whatsoever. I am registering at three different places just to have a variety of selection and price range. Unfortunately over the last five years I have gotten rid of almost everything I had for my daughter. I only have her crib and changing table. So I will need everything all over again.
My SIL is doing my shower, its set for june 13th. I also wanted mine a little early to have everything set up and to see what I really needed to get before she arrives. And the baby is going to be sleeping in myroom so no nursery for now. But her crib set and everything is hello kitty. I also did my whole registry at target, to me they had much nicer things.
my shower is going to be june 5th. I'm due the end of July. I think I will be about 32 weeks at the shower. The showe will be at the function room of a library in town. It fits perfectly with the theme- we are doing a baby book theme. My mother and MIL are primarly planning the shower, but I'm helping a little becasue I'm a control freak. they are doing rafle baskets that people who bring a book have a chance of winning.
My mother is painting my nursery in the next couple weeks. I picked out a light green for the walls, and I picked a lilac and tan crib set that has safari animals on it. I also got white painted letters to that spell her name for the wall. I can't wait to start decorating!

well this is my 4th baby, so I was'nt really planning on having a baby shower (although I have had one with all the rest) but my SIL who says she's done having babies, but loves them (she has 5) really wanted to throw me a baby shower and I don't really have any baby stuff, even though i have young children, because we moved last year and got rid of everything! my best friend also wanted to throw a shower, so now they are co-hosting the shower together. I don't have an set date yet, but sometime in June probably toward the end, I have a history of preterm labor and want to have the shower early, so i can get everything together early. I don't have a theme for the babys room yet, and she will be sleeping in my room for the first few months since i am going to BF and then she will be sharing with her sister, but I am planning on doing pale pink and chocolate brown as colors. I am just now getting my guest list together, so i am not sure how many people will be there, it will be mostly women, but men are invited too!
Yes, it is my first child. I had a pregnancy last year that ended in a loss so I feel extra greatful to be having this little boy. I think that is the perfect age spread for all your kids not too far apart, but old enough to understand :)
It is funny how our intuitions just know... I have a family full of girls and I just knew in my heart that I would have a boy (even though I am not quite sure what to do with a boy haha). I would have been shocked if it turned out to be a girl. I am sure your gut is right on target and it will be confirmed at your US

Yeah I know that is what we said too. But, I love our family so it will be so much fun.

Wow that is a big shower for not wanting one at all...lol.
I am sure it will be a great time visiting with all of the family from out of town, and you will for sure get some needed items as well.

I am due August 3rd, but am measuring a couple weeks ahead so I think my little guy will show up in July sometime. Do you know what you are having?

Hey ladies! I have not posted in here. Well I am due August 4th. and our baby shower is June 5. We have already bought all the big things we needed. We had no intentions of having a baby shower since this is not our first. I had figured we would just get it all done ourselves, but my DH family from out of town want to have a baby shower for us, so now we are up to 100 people, but it is for women/men and children. It is more like a family gathering than anything. But hey I guess whatever works.
I am glad to see that I am not the only one having an early shower. I just want to make sure I have everything in order and not rushed or stressed the last few weeks of my pregnancy

TRENIECE- actually I think you are suppose to have your shower when you are closer to your due date, so I felt a little funny about having it early but I would rather enjoy my last few weeks and have everything all ready. I know what you mean about wanting to control it...lol. But, my sister in law really wanted to plan it so I am trying to let her do her thing hehe.
Maxine77- I had no idea you didn't live in the country. It is great to hear what other cultures do to celebrate events in life. That is wonderful that way everyone can meet your little baby and celebrate... you must be excited for your party !!
I didn't like the idea of traditional blue, and I don't like the idea of all pink for a girl either. I like to be a little different :)
Brittny27- that is awesome you get a professional cake decorator for your babies cake :) My favorite cake is swedish princess cake all I have to say is YUMMM it's very hard to make though so they are ordering a big one for my shower at a specialty baker :)

I actually ordered my nursery furnature from Walmart too. They had these bundle deals that I couldn't resist 3 pieces for around $500. Like you I need absolutley everything, so it was easiest for me to keep the rest at the one store. Must be so much fun shopping for a girl :)
PrettyKitty1- wow you are going to have a huge shower :) No men are allowed at my shower. But, my husband is having a diaper party. I just heard about this all the guys get together to BBQ and have some beers/watch sports. They each bring a pack of diapers of different sizes. Male version of the baby shower I guess...lol. My due date is the 3rd I am so excited about my little boy too.

feather2e- oh my goodness your nursery is so cute I just looked at your pics... and so is your little boy how adorable. I love your colors too and think those would be perfect for a girl as well. My shower is July 12th. For my nursery i'm doing a lady bug theme from babies r us which has lime green in it. so ill be doing the walls with white bead board on the bottom and white and lime green stripes on the top.
This is my second child so I probably wont have a shower, even though I am having a girl this time. Fionns Nursery is primarily yellow and mint with some blue, so I think it will be fine. I have pictures in my profile already.
My SIL's are throwing my shower. It's July 11. Typically, we only do showers for the first baby but since my youngest is 8 and they know I have nothing, they decided to throw me a shower. I have a crib and my MIL bought the bedding (pale green with turtles). The crib will be in our bedroom so no nursery decorating. Afterwards, he'll be sharing a room with his brothers. I registered at Wal-mart to keep it cheap.
My shower is July 11h. I have the place booked and my aunt is paying for it. It will be in a salon that I picked and love! The place is so cozy!! Since I’m due Aug 23rd I figured it’d be a good day to have my baby shower.
I have already bought the invitations and will be sending them some time this month and may. I’m inviting 100 people. It will not be a just for women shower. My entire family and closest friends will be there.
The registry list is already going. I got the crib, mattress, booster chair, travel system and booster car seat. My SIL is buying me the dresser but she will wait until after the shower.

I have my baby shower planned for June 19th I will be 30 weeks. I will probably send out invites mid May. I wanted plenty of time to still purchase anything I don't receive for gifts. I put everything we need on the registry. I registered at Target and Walmart. Target had all the little things and Walmart had all the furniture and big items. I wanted a specific travel system that Target didn't carry.
I'm finding it hard to find the items I want in store most of them you have to order from there web site. I'm not sure how many people are gonna shop early enough to order online oh well.

From where I come from - we don have baby showers. Instead what we have here is the 1 month old celebration. That when the baby is born and turns 1 month, we celebrate by giving our friends and relatives red eggs and cakes to mark a milestone. This is our 3rd kid so we don have a special nursery or anything. Little cookie is prob just going to share her space with her 2nd sister instead (right opposite our room). However i think the traditional baby showers in the US sounds wonderful!
Hey! My shower isn't until july 24th and i'll be 35 weeks then. I'm pushing it kinda close. My bff and i are planning (mainly me) it because i'm a perfectionist and a little spoiled so it has to go my way lol. I'm having it in the entertainemnt room of my apartment building. I already picked out cake, decorations, and i have the menu togeether. My friend is thinking of having a "bring in your favorite childhood storybook" as a themse because i'm such a big readser and read to my son everyday. I don't have a nursery perse but i did take an idea from charmed and turned my extra large closet into a baby room lol. I'm still in the beginning stages of that as far as decorating.
