I feel dumb and stupid

The other day I prepared a delicious shrimp recipe and ate a lot of it. I knew about shrimp and lobster ...and pregnancy but this time I forgot all bout it. What the H is wrong with me?? I haven't eaten shrimp since I got pregnant, just this one time last week. Will that harm the baby? Should I talk to my doctor about it on Wednesday? God I'm such an idiot. I feel so guilty!! What do I do?

Oh the heartburn!!!  It's so bad and I don't even have to eat anything to get it. I wake up in the morning burping before I even drink anything. Rolaids, tums, mylanta none of that works for me either. I have to take zantac which I take almost everyday.

Heather- I dip my apples in caramel sauce! I love that stuff. I ate a whole box of girl scout cookies at once. I sat down to watch a show and the next thing I know they were gone.

I have half a box of girl scout cookies left I think I'm gonna have to go eat them now.

I try to eat healthy for the most part and do a good job but I also eat the candy and bad stuff too.

All of your talk about mexican is making me jelaous.  My heartburn has had me avoiding the spicy stuff, but I would love some tacos or nachos or any other mexican food really.

High counts of mercury are found in weird fish like mackaral and stuff like that.  It is very well ok to consume fish, even tuna fish.  as long as the fish is cooked and you can have about 2-3 servings per week.  I eat shrimp, crab, even california sushi rolls (cooked crab meat of course) and I'm perfectly healthy.  I've even gorged on subway turkey sandwiches as long as the meat is toasted.  You will freak yourself out completely if you don't watch it!  LOL   Heck I even eat blue crumbles ever so often.  I mean I watch what I eat and keep an account of when the last time I ate this or that but unless you start feeling ill like the flu then you're good.

That's funny I have been eating a lot of Mexican food too. I usually prepare it myself. Making tacos for me is an all day thing. I use a pork roast cooked 4-5 hours then shredded and seasoned. I've had a craving for chimichangas a few times but I go out for those. I make enchiladas also.

Good! I did not have any stomach issues. I felt great after eating those shrimps. I did cook them really well. Then after two hours I remembered, and started feeling like crap. Just to be sure, I will not eat any more shrimp from now on. I really don't eat seafood very often. This pregnancy has taken all desire for seafood away.

Heather...I love going to Taco Bell. There are more Mexican Restaurants and places in California. Miami is mostly Cuban food. And now where I live (another county here in Fl) it is mostly American food. Maybe there are a few places in Florida where they sell Mexican food but not where I live. I will do Taco Bell tonight LOL...Oh You..........Ya had to mention Mexican Food!!! Shame on you lol

I think you are safe. The mercury is only a danger if you eat the questionable food often. If there was something else wrong with the food, you would have had nausea, vomiting and/or diarea. For the most part though, your body will protect the baby from anything dangerous.

Forgot to mention that for the past three days all I want is mexican food.  My husband has been at our neighborhood super market I mentioned more times than I can count getting me one thing or another...  I can't stop! lol

I have ate shrimp fully cooked a few times. I'm not worried. I don't eat seafood enough to be concerned about the amount of mercury I'm eating. I think I've ate salmon twice and shrimp three times. I also don't cook my steak well done I do cook it more than I use to now I eat it med instead of med rare.

I went to culinary school and have had a ton of food safety classes so I am confident in how I cook and the food I prepare to be safe.

I do the same thing.  I have accidently eaten a turkey sandwich with cold lunch meat a few months ago and was kinda freaking out about it.
Also, here in california we have so many mexican super markets (probably the same where you live in FL?).  There is one right by our house.  So, one night I begged my husband to go pick up the fixings for carne asada tacos.... and demanded him to grab some queso fresco too.  I ate so much of that stuff then realized after the fact that it's not pasturized.  Uhg another few days worrying.  But, I think if something is wrong when you eat something you shouldn't you would have a tummy ache.  I think you are fine and it was OK for me, but we just can't make a habit of it...lol.
I will worry until this little guy is out safe in my arms and probably after that too!

I worry because I tend to worry about everything. This is my first pregnancy so I don’t know what to expect if I slip. All I know is I’ve read that pregnant women should avoid shrimp, sushi, lobster etc and just eat tilapia and/or salmon if the desire for seafood is present…and no more than once or twice a week. Ugh….
I just want my baby to be healthy.

My husband told me the same thing about pregnancy way back in the day, when studies were limited and nobody knew all of the things that are now known…..and there were still lots of healthy babies.

as long as it was fully cooked I don't think that there should really be any problem! is there a reason you are so worried about it? most things they tell you to avoid eatting you should avoid, but usually they don't do much to you or the baby if you slip up and have it once or twice! Good luck and don't beat yourself upthink 50 years ago most babies were born healthy and they did not have all the guidlines that they have now!
