how do they calculate ur lmp if u dont no it

i dont no my lmp, and my 1st ultrasound put me at 6wks exactly, due on aug 13. How do they calculate ur lmp on ultrasound if u dont no it?

oh thanku heaps girls, its a big help, bcoz i waznt planning on getting preg, n i usually get my period in tha first wk of every month, i just totally 4got wen i had my lmp, so i wondered ho theyd get it on ultrasound, but i understand it beta cuming from u guys, thanx heaps =)

usually it is more accurate to go by the ultrasound than your LMP anyway, early in the pregnancy dating by ultrasound is supposed to be very accurate later on it can be off by a little because babies can grow at slightly different rates. Good luck and congratualtions!

oh..... Thanku, so they add tha 2wks on based on tha babys size??? So at 6wks, i would have been 4wks, is that rite? If going by lmp ofcourse

They will go based on the size of the sac they measure on ultrasound and from the due date work backwards to your estimated LMP. If you go to some websites such as www.babycenter.com and key in your EDD, the website will give you an estimated LMP. Anyway since you have been scanned and given an EDD, they will go by that as a gauge and subsequent ultrasounds will help to confirm your dates.
