help!!! please, bleeding question.

I woke up in the middle of the night to sort of diarrhea, then 2 he's later I woke up with bad cramps like period cramps but strong and I went to "pee" and when I wiped and looked at the toilet there was blood in there and since then blood is coming out exactly like if I was on my period, Baby moves like crazy every time it happens and I get sharp pains like a knife is being shoved in my vagina.
I'm calling my Dr. But he opens at 9am and it doesn't feel like I have to go in to L&D yet to me...
I'm a FTM and I'm 39 weeks 6 days can anyone shine some light on what this is??

I went to my ob  and he checked me I'm just starting to open and its the start of labor I'm home now
He said that I probably started bleeding yesterday or the day before and the blood made its way out today, babys heart rate was fine
He said baby is coming very soon. Now its just waiting while  I'm in pain.

Uh losing mucus plug is NOT bleeding like when you have your period. Normal discharge and mucus plug is slimey clear-yellowish and may have some pink in it from blood. Right before labor your discharge may be continuusly clear slimey with some pinkish blood (it was for me), but this didn't hurt.

Some bloodloss is possible, but it should stop fast (= go brown or light pink then go). In this case a little blood vain popped (they are more and more sensitive during pregnancy), which is not dangerous. But this bleeding will stop soon.

Prolonged bleeding may indicate a bigger issue, like something wrong with your placenta. You should go to emergency asap and have it checked out. Best of luck, i hope you and baby will be fine!

My midwife just told me that period-like bleeding is not okay. So I also recommend going to L&D

OK, I didn't think it was mucus plug because there was no mucus in there just blood but then again idk nothing about what's going on.

But still go to EMERGENCY you never know and you don't want to wait for your doc, just to be safe that's what I would do as a ftm! Hope everything is okay!

Those sharp pains are called lightening it happens when baby settles in your pelvis and prepares for birth
