visitors after delivery

This is my 3rd baby and this time around I don't want visitors for a good week, with my other kids I had someone at my house/hospital from morning to late evening and it was awful, i had a bad epidural and breastfeeding was a very painful journey and I only got to hold my baby when they needed fed or had a dirty diaper! Everyone thinks it's horrible of me wanting the first week just for me,my husband and little ones! Is my request that awful?!

I understand how you feel. When my husband and I lost our son last August we had a lot of family around but no support. Every one had an opinion and was so selfish. We were shocked at how little support we had. Our rainbow baby is due in August and we have decided not to have any visitors at the hospital or at home til we feel like it. It will  be emotional bringing home my son because we are still healing from last year. We prayed and we stand firm in our decision.

No it isn't. Perhaps allow the grandparents and your and your husbands brothers and sisters to visit sooner, they're probably just as excited as you, but just a limited time and not every day or so. But no extended family or friends until you are ready.
You could have a baby meet 'n greet party when you are ready, to compensate. It's much at once but may give you more free time outside that day.

You could put something on the birth card like: Mommy and daddy would like a week to get to know their little baby in peace. We would however like to invite you all to come celebrate with us and meet our little boy/girl on (date+time).  But then worded a bit better lol
