I have to wait on my plan

I'm a little frustrated right now. My husband and I live in rural community in the mountains. I'm due in Feb. The plan was that I would have a homebirth here and I identified a midwife. I worked hard with the midwife to make sure that should a blizzard hit then we would still be safe. I was pretty excited about the plan. Then...my husband was presented with a great opportunity to bid on a historic renovation project in another city. He is a building contractor. We decided together that he had to go ahead and throw his hat in the ring. The big issue is that if he lands the project then we would have to relocate for at least a year.  The other problem is that we don't have an idea of the start date. But...right now, we are just waiting on the bid. So, chances are I will be in the middle of a move and have to change up my birth plan. I know I have time... it is just a very unsettling position to be in. I'm a woman that loves a good nest. And the idea of my nest being in boxes or temporary is maddening. The other issue is that I can't schedule anymore of birthing classes till we know the verdict. I teach childbirth classes and they run 6-8 weeks long. I can only offer private classes at this point. Any advice on how to keep my wits about me would be appreciated.

I went ahead and switched my care to the midwife group in the city. This means I will deliver at the hospital. No homebirth. I'm okay with that after being more informed about the hospital's policies. They are very Mama/Baby friendly. They don't require a IV or even a HepLoc and I can have a Waterbirth. The baby will placed on me directly and can stay on me for an hour before being weighed, checked out, etc (assuming there are no complications). If I'm feeling good... I can sign myself out whenever I want. Midwife gives the blessing on that one. So, I'm set. UNLESS we hear on my hubby's contract and then everything changes again. But at least I have temporary sanity. :)

Still in limbo over here...
HA! And just to add fuel to the fire. I keep up with Farmer's Almanac for weather predictions. It is part of having a farm and it is right on target 98% of the time. They have red flagged the week I'm due for a huge Winter storm covering the entire East Coast. I'm a 45 minute to an hour transfer to a hospital from my home in good weather. We are planning a homebirth but have to rethink that and get lined up with the hospital in case of a storm. It wouldn't be such a  big deal but my son was born in a blizzard. I went into labor as soon as the pressure dropped before it started snowing. So...it's kind of expected that will happen again. Even my wife gave me the "don't get disappointed BUT" speech after reading the forecast herself.HA! Sheesh.

That's so exciting, I am reading Dr Bradley's The husband coached childbirth now, because I feel like my husband could do just as good as a midwife or duela. He just needs the knowledge, and we both will have the knowledge we need to have a healthy pleasant drugless birth. You are so right about women fearing childbirth because of lack of knowledge. when you really know what to expect or what is happening when it's happening it makes it that much easier. I wish you all the luck on your moving/relocating issue. I could only imagine how you feel not being able to start nesting when you want. I love getting her room ready and all her clothes washed and put away. You do still have plenty of time so hopefully the bid is speedy and you get an answer soon.

I refer to my home as my nest and always have. I really like having my environment in place...especially with my son around and another kid coming. We had to move when he was 4 months old and I barely survived that. I just dread the idea of doing it again.

I am certified in hypnobirthing and bradley method and I also have a International Childbirth Educator certification. I have chosen to teach a blend of hypno and bradley method in my classes. I feel like it is better for women to have a few methods to draw upon in labor. You never really know what is going to work for you when the time comes and I feel like it is a better way to go. My classes are geared toward a unmedicated natural birth outcome but I do cover all possible medical scenarios and interventions. My goal is to take away the fear through knowledge. I also do a lot of family nutrition counseling and I'm certified through the Dr. Sears L.E.A.N program.
That's my passion and I hate that I can't offer classes again till we know our status!!!

Oh no! You poor thing! I can’t imagine making all of that progress w/ planning and then get hit w/ news like that! Hahaha I love that you’re already referring to “nesting”.  I was a nester from the day I found out about my pregnancy! I guess our maternal instincts are strong.
