I'm like you. I love hospitals, but w/ a "home birth theme"
I trust my body to do what it needs to do after a ripe 42 weeks gestation, but want to make sure my baby is monitored as we never know what could happen. I live too far out in the country for a doctor to get there in time... but even someone who lives in town may be taking a risk if care isn't given soon enough w/ certain circumstances.
There are risks involved in everything we do. I guess we have to find out what we are comfortable w/.
i'd love to have a home birth, but i won't. so much has happened with this pregnancy that i don't trust any part of it to be plain sailing anymore...so although i hate hospitals, it'll be the safest bet for me.
I think home births are lovely when proper precautions are taken (such as having a health professional, such as a midwife, present). I've known many people who've given birth at home.
Personally I won't be giving birth at home. I love hospitals (I'm weird, I know, but I like being in hospitals and love the busyness of hospitals) and it makes me feel safe.
There's a ton of awesome birth videos on YouTube of homebirths.
