Ultram and Pregnancy. HELP

by viciouspink0315, Jul 10, 2009 05:02AM
I have been taking about 4 of the 50mg ultrams a day for most of my pregnancy. No one ever responds to my posts. I am concerned about my child. all of my blood work has been normal but i am concerned about the outcome. I wasn't even offerend Subxene until just recently. Everyone says don't take it. I have stopped but seeing as i am in second trimester now i have no idea about outcome. Scard and nervous. Don't know what to do. Dr hasn't said much just said something about withdrawls. I want to know about the baby and if mental or physical problems can arise?

I wasn't on Ultram, but was on several other pain meds with my last pregnancy - I can safely assure you that you're baby should be just FINE!!  If if can get by with less that's even better, and means less or no w/d's for baby.  My child didn't experience any w/d's
at birth.  Do you plan to breast-feed at all??  If so, and the baby did have w/d's, it would
probably help baby get through the w/d's a little easier - just so long as your docs aren't already treating him/her with other stuff, too...

This time around though, I am on Suboxone, and that has me a little worried - just cuz
it's slightly different.  I just try to only take what I can get by on, and hope to be down to
very little by birth (I've read that some women did have issues with their babies being in w/d from the sub)  The important thing is to NOT drastically alter things - don't go cold turkey!  That alone can do MORE harm.

Best of luck to you!!
