weight gain

by katie310, Oct 31, 2009 05:15PM
I have about two months left before my due date. The whole time that I have been pregnant I have only gained 2 pounds. I haven't been sick at all. So it is not from throwing up. I have so recently got to the point where I could really eat. My question is should I be worried that I haven't really gained any weight, and does this mean that I am going to have a small child?

What is your doctor saying? I'm sure he's keeping track of your measurements to make sure your baby is growing like he/she should. If you're eating well, I would think your baby is getting what he/she needs; but I would talk to your doctor about it and see what he says...

I don't see how you could have only gained 2 pounds. The amniotic fluids, placenta, and baby all add weight to your body. Are you sure you didn't type that wrong?

Could you please give us an update on your weight gain? I'm very curious to see how you have been doing, or if it was just a typo.

well i went to the dr the other day and I am back to the weight that I was the first time that I went to the dr. I asked him and he said that since I had a little extra before I got preggo that I am fine. He also said that the baby is growing just fine so I have nothing to worry about.

I just don't understand 'cause the placenta and all the liquids add weight, as well as the baby. So who knows.

Many times during pregnancy women pay much closer attention to how they are eating, and make an effort to eat better and get more exercise.  On a woman who had a little extra weight before pregnancy, this can balance out the weight gain from things like blood, breast tissue, placenta and baby.  If not pregnant, weight loss would occur, but with the weight that's normal to add during pregnancy it can even out.
