16 weeks obvious to see gender?

At 16 weeks I had an ultrasound done by my cousin at first the baby would not show the goods then she got a few good views and she was positive it's a girl. Then the following Monday I went to my Dr and they said the baby wasn't showing the goods and it was still early to tell?????????? My question is do you think at 16 weeks if you get a clear view of the babies sex it's pretty accurate? Or is that still to early to confirm???? I don't go back for another ultrasound till  August 4th I'll be 22 weeks then......at first I really didn't care what the baby was I just wanted it to be healthy which I still just want the baby to be healthy but I want to be excited about having a girl and start getting ready for her by buying her stuff.........
