Brown spotting for over 2 weeks

Hi I just signed up on here. I have been reading your info and I feel better... But my trouble is this is my second pregnancy due December 8, 2008. I guess  I am 4 weeks along. My first pregnancy was just normal and fine. I know I did not spot this brown stuff I am doing now. I started spotting on the 23rd of March which made me think my period was coming... but it never turned red like normally. Just stayed brown. So it has been 16 days and I'm still spotting brown and have slight pains under my belly button on the left side sometimes..maybe on the right sometimes...Last week I had my hcg levels checked 3 times and my confirmation pregnancy # was 118. 2 days later is was#170 which they scarred me and said it was not good news and had an ultrasound done because my number was not high enough. My doc could find no evidence of a tubal preg... it is just too early, he did see my uterus getting thicker and getting a sac on it though... Well I had my blood drawn again just 24 hours after that 170# and it jumped to 376!!! So what is my deal? Anybody else experience something like this.  I feel great when I am standing...a little crampy when I am sitting..this spotting brown though is driving me crazy!!! What do you think :>

Brown spotting is indeed old blood.  If it was red and alot of blood I would call dr asap.  But my doc says you can spot after sex or even an exam.  And he says every woman and pregnancy is different so it may not have happened the first time but it may now. Best of luck to all of us! Im due Dec 2.

Brown spotting is old blood.  I have a girlfriend who bled brown throughout her entire pregancy.  There is still hope.  Keep us updated and best of luck.

I have been cramping as well - but mine is off and on - no spotting though - cramping is usual in early pregnancy, b/c it is your body's way of making room for your little one - everything is shifting around in there.  Brown spotting is old blood - like MEL2611 said.  I know it is scary though, not knowing - but i hope that helps

Usually brown spotting means old blood.  Have you mentioned this to your doctor?  I wish you all the best.
