Yolk sac but no baby :(

I had my first sonogram today... I am supposed to be 6w 5d. The doc told me there was a gestational sac and no baby yet. She said that I might be not as far along as I think.. But I'm about 99% sure I am 6w5d. I had my last period march 18th and tested positive on a hpt on april 14th. So theres no way I'm not as far along as I think. The past few days I've had brown discharge which Ive been worried about which is why Ive had my sonogram today instead of friday. Ive been extremely negative all day... I'm preparing myself for the worst I guess. If anyone has a story similar to mine and ended up having a successful please share your story! And ANY advice and positive vibes will be greatly appreciated.

So sorry for your loss. :( I had a MC in Jan at 7 weeks. It was terrible. I too looked at it pass and me being someone that can handle alot of things I looked at it. I had to be 100% sure. It was the saddest thing I ever went through. The worst feeling is after when the tummy doesnt feel bloated anymore and you don't feel pregnant anymore it is really sad.

But now im at 8-9 weeks waiting on a blood test to see my levels and maybe me darn ultra sound which they refuse to give me untill they see if my HCG is good due to it being kinda low at 5 weeks.

I pray you have another and that all goes well. xoxox

Oh I am so sorry to hear you had to go through this!  I went through it in Feb. and it was just awful.  Miraculously we became pregnant less than a week after the bleeding stopped.
I've said a prayer for you and I hope you feel better soon!

My last mentrual period was 03/29. I am one day shy of seven weeks. I went for a vaginal u/s and found no baby yolk. I notice I have had vaginal discharge no bleeding. I had a HCG level of 04/30 was 149.8, on 05/11 was 2120, on 05/13 was 2623. Is it normal. My doctor called and said she was nervous because my hcg were not doubleling within 48 hours. I had two healthy pregnancy and did not experience any of the above. I am schedule for another vaginal u/s on Wednesday 05/19/10. I am trying not to stress but am terrified

I too had a miscarriage 2 months ago and I know how you feel. I was 8.5 weeks pregnant but hte baby was only 5.5 when we did the ultrasound. I had to have a D/C since I never had any symptoms. Now, I will be 5 weeks pregnant tomorrow... hopefully you will be felling better soon.... and good luck when you fell ready to TTC again! :)

I'm so sorry to hear that.Your not alone. That happened to me like 3 months ago at 6 weeks and 2 days and had no clue why! Then we tried again and had a chemical pregnancy. I kept going back trying to figure out what happened just to get some closure but the only explanation drs have is abnormal chromosomes. IDK, but I even changed my diet completely because I blamed it on that. Well only god knows, but it has been one of the saddest moments in my life. Again really sorry for your loss!

I started cramping verrry bad and I passed the baby yesterday.. along with the gestational sac and yolk sac completely intact.. the last product I passed actually landed in my hand and I dropped it out of fright in the ER bathroom. It was the most traumatic thing I have ever went through.. Im sorry for even having all of you read this.. I just hope the rest of you have a happy an healthy pregnancy.

I'm so sorry you are going through this.  I know how painful physically and emotionally a miscarriage is...I hope that isn't what you are going through, but if by sad chance it is you are in my thoughts!

Thanks for your encouragement .. but since I last posted this which was just an hour ago Ive had bad cramping and now the blood is like period red.. I dont think its going the way it should.

I did not even think of that.. that may be why things are very iffy and no one really knows exactly whats going on.. I mean with the sac measuring 6w but my levels only being 4 weeks. But the bleeding is alot worse now.. and its red and painful :(

I've had bleeding and I've passed clots, and all of my ultrasounds show the pregnancy is progressing normally. They told me that first trimester bleeding is actually pretty common. My first ultrasound they said I was only 4 weeks and we saw the gestational and yolk sacs. I was so confused b/c I knew the day I ovulated, and I knew I had to be at least 5 weeks. And it's my understanding that you have to be 5 weeks to see a yolk sac. Then I passed a clot about three days later and so I went back for a repeat ultrasound, and the dates showed me 5w2d. I jumped an entire week! lol. I don't think that they can accurately determine how far along you are based on measurements. I think the first couple ultrasounds are always a little wonky. I have a good feeling about this pregnancy and yours as well. They put me on 200mg of prometrium, which would sustain a pregnancy if the corpus luteum wasn't producing enough progesterone.

A little update.. I posted this in the other forum too.. okayy from the begining... abour 5 days ago I started to have some brown discharge so they moved my first sonogram up and I had it this wed. The doc only saw a gestational sac no yolk sac or baby. The next morning I passed a tissuey looking clot so I went to the hospital. The er doc said I "probably" already miscarried and that I was dilated but she sent me for a sonogram at the er to make sure.. they saw a gestational sac and this time they saw a yolk sac!! so nothing was making sense.. the sac measured 6 weeks 1 day and my hcg levesl are 7487.. which is around 4 weeks pregnant. so then the er doc told me that I still am pregnant and I have a threatened abortion which means first trimester bleeding and 40% end in miscarriage and 60% go on to have a normal pregnancy.  This morning it got worse and Ive been clotting like crazy .. but I followed up with my doc this morning and Im not dilated anymore.. and Im still pregnant!! the er doc was so quick to diagnoise a miscarriage!! UGH.. but there is still a pregnancy here as of right now :) She found a gestational sac and yolk sac as well which she had not seen the day before I went to the er. They took my blood work and I have to call around 3:30 to get it.. she said it should be in the 10000. Ive been praying all day! Its been such an emotional rollercoaster.. i know its alot but I need some positive vibes here..

Jilian ---

When I was 6w4d pregnant my last pregnancy they said the heartrate was only 95 bpm. Turns out that when they first start beating they are a little on the slow side and then speed up. Also, early ultrasounds can be up to a week off. Its actually pretty common.

"measurements taken by transvaginal ultrasound are very accurate during the first trimester and used by physicians to date the pregnancy. However, they are subject to human error and, we believe, they are not quite as accurate if your uterus is tilted. We've had a number of women who knew exactly when they conceived but did not see their babies until 8 to 12 weeks (or even more) and, when finally found, their doctors insisted their dates were off by weeks. Even if the woman only had sex one time, they'll insist she got pregnant weeks later."

YOu may not have seen my post last week... I had my 6 wk 2 day ultrasound (and I was 100% that is how far along I was, because I did an IUI on 3/30)... there was no baby just a gest sac and yolk sac.  I went back yesterday and there was a baby, but it is measuring a week behind (4mm) and the heart rate is only 93 bpm which is on the slow side.  I'm so worried but I know it is out of my hands so I can only pray and try to stay positive.  At least there was progress from nothing to something...so I can only hope it will be more of the same :)  I am thinking of you!

I think what they meant is that you could have ovulated later in your cycle than you thought, or implantation could have taken longer.  That would put you not as far along as you think.  That happens...

Yes, my story... my son.  At around 5.5 weeks saw a yolk sac no baby, then went back at 6 weeks saw a fetal pole  - no heartbeat.  Then at 7 weeks a heartbeat.  It was a LONG wait and I was miserable and stayed on the couch for a week.  The last two times I have waited until after 8 weeks to go.  The early ultrasounds drive you crazy waiting.  The numbers on Friday should give you some information too.  HOWEVER, At 6 weeks I was told my numbers were 22000, so I SHOULD see a heartbeat with numbers that HIGH.  They told me to prepare for a MC - my son is 4 now.  For now, I trust that body knows what to do and what will be will be.

I'm so sorry, this must be torture.  Ironically I just read your post this morning about the discharge.  Then at 4 pm I had the same brownish discharge.  I am going in tomorrow morning for an ultrasound.  Hope everything works out... for BOTH of us!
