12 weeks and the "normal" weight gain.

I'm 12 weeks and 3 days and my scale thus far reads that I'm fluctuating between 8-10 pounds, depending on the time of day and how bloated I am at that point. I am 5'5" and my pre-pregnancy weight was 130lbs. I am now 140lbs. My breasts have already gotten much bigger. I have some nauseousness and found that I get dizzy very easily if there is nothing in my stomach. I've heard of women gaining 5lbs or less in their first trimester..and I've heard of women gaining up to 15lbs within their first trimester. Im just worried of gaining excessive weight in a small amount of time. Feeling fat and very unattractive. Please help! Is 10lbs excessive or OK?

No worries.  As long as you eat well and maintain a balanced, healthy diet for you and your little one, weight gain is somewhat immaterial.  Now f you start gaining 3-5 pounds a week consistantly, you might talke to your doctor because you might have something going on.  Otherwise, relax and enjoy your pregnancy.  The only other thing I would recommend, if you do want to check your weight daily or weekly, or whatever you're comfortable with, check at the same time every day.  I always check first thing in the morning before I jump in the shower (wet hair weighs more...LOL).  From here on, about a pound a week is normal (so if you don't gain a pound one week, but you gain 2 the next week-still a pound a week on average).  Best wishes for a smooth and successful pregnancy!  I'm due Dec 1st...so excited!

I think its ok. Im 5'9" and my prepregnancy weight was 120 and i gained a total of 10lbs from weeks 4 to 9. Im now 12.5weeks and i haven't gained anymore. But the doc it was fine as long as my weight gain doesn't continue at that pace which it didn't.
