I bled on my 6th week. Heavy bleeding and tremendously painfulPainful menstrual periods cramps. A hundred times worse than a normalNormal saline flush early miscarriage. I went to doctors and he found a clot right behind the placenta. I have been on bed rest for a week now. Doctor wants me to remain on bed rest.
If I were you, I would try another doctor. PReferably a prenatal specialist.
Hi! I noticed your question and wanted to respond because I too have had bleeding in previous pg and know how scary it can be... I hope you don't mind, I am using the same response that I also left for stephanie1976 (I'm exhausted right now and can barely type) because it sounds that you 2 are having similar problems.
I am so sorry you are going through this... I know that any bleeding during pregnancy can be very scary... It sounds to me like the "clot" may be a SCH (subchorionic hematoma) Maybe ask your Dr.?
I had one of these with both of my pregnancies with my DD and DS. With my DS the bleeding was SO bad I was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. From talking to people who have also experienced this I have found that the bleeding may vary and can be light or heavy. Most of the women that I know that have had this have gone on to have perfectly healthy babies!! My DD is 12 and my DS is 18 months! Most SCH's resolve themselves by around 20 weeks and don't cause any further issues. Most of the SCH ladies I know were placed on restricted activity and pelvic rest (nothing in the vagina... no heavy lifting) I know of at least one really good support group that I used when pg with my son... I would be more that happy to try to locate it for you if you are interested.
Try to hang in there hun... remember, bleeding does not always mean that the end. Lots of mama's have been through this and came out beautifully!
To answer your other questions... I bled from 11 weeks to 18 weeks with my DS... I don't remember how long with DD... its been too long...
I think that the strong heartbeat is a GREAT sign!! Try to relax the best you can (I know its VERY hard) Maybe talk to your Dr. about doing weekly scans or at least appts to ease your mind until the bleeding stops??
And investing in a doppler (only after 10-11 weeks) really helped me as well... being able to check on my son from home.
((((HUGS))))

Could they see the clot on the ultrasound? I hope I dont bleed that long! I really cant stand it. Seeing all this blood is making me very nauseated and is even haunting my dreams! ugh. I know all I can do is wait. What a hard thing for an impatient person to accept. Do you know what causes a SCH? I just wonder why my doctor wouldnt suggest this to atleast put my mind at ease for a minute or two. My husband is in the Navy so i have to see the military doctors. I gotta say they kind of suck. :( Boooo
With me, the doctor say the blood clot right away. It was the size of the sac - and then some. VERY SCARY. That is when I was put on best rest. However, after a little over a week of bedrest - and the blood stopping within the first 2-3 days, I went to my OB and he saw that the clot is fading away and that it is on the opposite side of the sac that shows the heartbeat.
I am still not out of the woods, but it looks a LOT better than it did last week. Get to the doctor and do an ultrasound.
I have been bleeding for a week now....and the doc thinks its from my internal u/s which i dont believe to be true since I have had MANY vaginal ultrasounds...so...who knows...
