by Newmom04, Sep 02, 2009 03:25PM
Hi Everyone
Quick Question. I am 4-months and about 4-days and need some advise. I want to dye my hair it looks so aweful and its like 2 different colors from letting my highlights grow. I have heard many different things saying yes and no, my firend was pregnant and gets her hair done and turns out great it lasts and doesnt make it green. I was told no du eto the hormones. Anyone can help. Thank-you and hope all is doing well

I worried about that too, I asked my doctor and she said it was just fine to dye your hair. I have been dying it since and I am almost 4 months pregnant, she said the key with that is just to have good ventelation, and I dye my hair red, and havent' had it change a different color or anything. so I say go for it

I have died my hair, including highlights, and haven't had any problems.  In fact, my color has held its form better than when I wasn't pregnant.  The only change really in my hair when getting it done is it is now quite wavy.

I wouldn't worry about it. My niece has been begging me to let her do my hair (and it really needs it too!) She is in school at Paul Mitchell, and swears that they dye pregnant women's hair all the time and never have any problems. My Dr. also said that it was fine like crystalwolf said, good ventilation is the key!

O Thank to all of you. I will do that today, it will make me feel so much better and I just called my Doctors office and the office staff is so rude and go figure when I had called and asked she said no but my fertility doctor who I refer back to said its perfectly fine and just as you all said just as long as I am in a venilated area and because it will be nice tomorrow and I am off I will just do it on the back porch. Any recommendations on a store brand kind, cant afford the salon this month. Thanks to you all!

I always liked Garnier (I think I mispelled that but hopefully you get what I mean) for at home. Or you could always see if there is a local school (Like I said my niece is at Paul Mitchell here in MI and they do an AWESOME job and are always supervised) that will do it professionally and give you the entire salon experience (feeling pampered) for cheep!
Have fun!! I always feel so much better when I get my hair done regardless of if someone else does it or if I do it myself!!

It is perfectly fine to color your hair. I do it in all of my pregnancies. I also like Garnier  Nutriese and it lasts quite a while. (Sarah Jessica Parker commercials)
Where the concern used to be was for those women who bleached their hair in poorly ventilated areas and would make themselves sick. And the bleach would seep into the scalp and potentially harm the fetus.  These days they do not include some of the harsh chemicals in the hair dye like they used to.
