35 Weeks and 2 Days Dialated at 2CM

I went for my weekly check up today and I am dialated at 2cm, she also said that the baby's head is really low.  She said it could be today or in the next couple weeks.  She said I definately would not make it to my due date.  My question is I am not due until February 15th and she said she would not stop my labor if I went now.  Should I be concerned seeing that my due date is 32 days away?

My OBGYN said that after 34 weeks they don't stop labor.  So he said the same thing to me, at this point if I go into labor they will just let it go.  I've read that the baby is ready at 37 weeks but that between now and then there is still a good chance that everything will be ok.  Obviously, if the baby is born before then they will probably need to keep them in the NICU because they aren't fully developed, but the odds of them surviving are high.  I would talk with your doctor about the concerns because he/she would probably be able to better explain the risks.

I would object if I were you. The baby may be perfectly fine, but there is also a very real chance that it might not.

Your baby's lungs will not be fully developed until 38 weeks.

Your baby may need help breathing, which means that you probably won't be able to hold it or take it home straight away.

In the end it is of course, your choice. But why risk not being able to hold your baby?
