First Appt and Spotting After Pap Smear

I had my first dr visit yesterday, which included a pap test.
Just out of curiosity, has anyone who recently had a pap smear while pregnant had any spotting afterwards?
The dr said it would be normal if I had a little spotting,  and when I got home I noticed quite a bit of blood. It continued throughout the day. However, I still noticed a little bit today as well. I'm sure it's nothing to fret over, but just wondering if I'm the only one who is experiencing this. Last time I was pregnant I had JUST had a pap about a month before I turned up pregnant, so I didn't have to have one when I went for my first exam...hence the curiosity about how long the spotting may last.

Other than that, the appt went well. Baby looked great and had a heartbeat of 129 bpm! I'm now 7 weeks 4 days and they verified my edd as Feb 8th.

(Oh, but let's not forget the rude person who parked VERY crooked in the spot next to me at the dr's office. It was SO bad that I couldn't get in on my driver's side. I had to get in on my passenger's side, crawl across my console and squeeze into my seat underneath the steering wheel. And believe me, I left them a note about how they lacked parking skills and to be more thoughtful next time!  OK, I feel better now. I just needed to vent a little.  I didn't want to take up another post to do it! LOL)

Thanks Hope! I'm glad the spotting stopped. It was probably from your pap.

I will keep everyone updated! I WILL BE SO NERVOUS! :)

it's normal don't worry ..i had spotting immediately after the pap and i still have till now ..but everyone's body is different. ..the spotting happens because the cervix is soo sensitive during pregnancy and it shouldnt affect the baby  ;)

From what I have heard, I think it might have been from your cervix being irritated.  That is what I have read from other women saying after a transvag u/s or pap smear.  Plus a friend of mine was 8 months pg and had spotting but the doctor told her it was from having sex and her ceervix got irritated.  Well that's good it has stopped.

The pap probably caused the spotting, BUT just to be safe I'd call your DR. I'm sure it's just all that probing during the pap, which I HATE! LOL

Congrats on the great hearbeat! I will be SO RELIEVED if I get to see the same thing next Thurs, when my first u/s is.

I can't believe you had to get in thru your passenger side!!! HOW RUDE!!! Good job on leaving a note!!
