my ob told me that ill have a level 2 u.s at 18 weeks and the sex can be determined then, thats Sept 11, EVERYONE except 3 people have said 'you ARE HAVING a girl' the 3 that said boy have all said, 'i THINK youre having a boy'. we of course want a boy and if we go by what you should go by, on his dads side of the family from the last 2 generations there are 7 boys and 2 girls. he has an aunt and an uncle (and his dad of course) he is 1 of 3 boys and his uncle has 2 boys and a girl so......we will see.....cant wait!!

I think I read somewhere that by 12 weeks all the "parts" are formed, but it just might be hard to see them on the u/s since the baby is still so small.  I go back next week and I'll be 12 1/2 weeks, so I'm definitly going to ask him during the u/s if he has any idea.

My Mom found out she was having a boy at 10.5 weeks!! I swear when she told me that she meant 12.5 weeks but she insists it was 10.5! I'm like mom I think you just can't remember since it was 15 years ago! But she still insists..she says he was a big baby and he was spread eagle. haha. So I guess its possible to determine a boy earlier if he's at the right angle. But most of the time, even if they think they see something they'll say "it looks like a boy/girl" but we're not 100% sure. Just to save their own *****! But my friend has been teching for over a year and she said the earliest sex she's told was a boy at 12 weeks and it was a boy! So she's pretty confident she'll be able to tell us at 14 weeks. And I think if its a boy it will be obvious and if not we're possibly having a girl! LOL I'm just excited to have another U/S!!

I'll wait till 20 weeks or whenever.  I'm not too keen on getting heaps of ultrasounds.... and I've sure had enough lately.

I don't personally have a feeling on whether this is boy or girl.  But I've had two old ladies (who claim psychic abilities) both tell me it's a girl.  I don't actually care what it is as long as it's healthy.  Though girl would be easier as the oldest child and as a single mum, I think..... Poor girl though, I don't want her to have to be too mature too early...

I have heaps of handmedown baby clothes and reckon its a waste of money to buy new things for a baby so I'll make do with what I have... climate here is really hot so all baby will need is a singlet and nappy, anyway.

Think I'll get a really good pram (so I'm mobile), rather than a special baby cot to start with.

all docs are different and the sex of the baby isn't really a priority to most of them. I would imagine they dont really care to be guessing early on. I know that when they tell you at 15-16 weeks they sometimes say its 80% likely a boy. Or something like that and then at 20 weeks people usually get the sex "confirmed" but honestly i think if they don't know for almost certain they wont even say anything. They'll just say they can't tell. I am really hoping i get to find out at my 3D ultrasound, I was planning on having it at 15 weeks but I know the chances of finding out get higher with each week so im starting to think maybe i should wait one more week and really make my chances of seeing it better. Also, I kind of figure with a 3D ultrasound they would be more sure about the sex, because its in color and such good quality not that static-black and white ultrasound. Those look like they could make determining the sex more difficult dont they? Does that make sense to anyone?

I can't wait either. I was hoping that maybe they will see something this friday but I am pretty sure 12.5 weeks is way too soon. A friend of mine found out at 14 weeks and that is the earliest I have heard of anyone finding out.  I feel like we are always waiting for something. Now that the first trimester is over with or almost overwith for most of us now we can't wait to see what gender they are and then after that it will be the longest wait until we can finally hold them in our arms.
