BLEEDING . . CLOT BEHIND PLACENTA

I am in my 7th week of preggo after doing an IVF.  Last Sunday, I started cramping and bleeding uncontrolably.  I was positive this was a miscarriage since I have gone through two of them already.  The only difference was that this time, the pain was UNBEARABLE.  I had to take two pain killers to ease the pain - even if it was only for a few minutes.

Nonetheless, on Monday morning, I went to to the doctor, we saw the heartbeat for the first time.  Heartbeat was strong.  BUT, there was HIGE clot behind the placenta.

I was confined to bed rest for a week.  I went back on Thursday and heartbeat was strong but clot was there, but no bleeding.  I am very worried since I have been tryint to conceive for almost 8 years and this is the first time pregnancy has gone this far.  Has anyone struggled with this?  Any thoughts would be extremely helpful.

I am so sorry you are going through this... I know that any bleeding during pregnancy can be very scary... It sounds to me like the "clot" may be a SCH (subchorionic hematoma) Maybe ask your Dr.?
I had one of these with both of my pregnancies with my DD and DS. With my DS the bleeding was SO bad I was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. From talking to people who have also experienced this I have found that the bleeding may vary and can be light or heavy. Most of the women that I know that have had this have gone on to have perfectly healthy babies!! My DD is 12 and my DS is 18 months! Most SCH's resolve themselves by around 20 weeks and don't cause any further issues. Most of the SCH ladies I know were placed on restricted activity and pelvic rest (nothing in the vagina... no heavy lifting) I know of at least one really good support group that I used when pg with my son... I would be more that happy to try to locate it for you if you are interested.
Try to hang in there hun... remember, bleeding does not always mean that the end. Lots of mama's have been through this and came out beautifully! ((((HUGS))))
