I need some help

I am on my third child and I had a cervical cerclage with my second child and the dr said that he does not think that I should have another one but he is leaving it up to me to decide and I have no idea if I should but since I had one already then my question is does any one have any thoughts on this

I think you should have it done. Prevent it when you can. I just delivered my baby at 16 weeks just 2 days ago due to the cervix opening. I had gone in to my doctor on Monday due to cramping and then Tuesday due to bleeding. They did an ultrasound and seen the baby lying way too low and they just sent me home. They are still refusing to do a cerclage to prevent my two other babies from coming early. I wish they would have done the cerclage to prevent my baby from being delivered too early. By the way, he was born breathing and lived for about 30 minutes so I know if they did the cerlage, they could have prevented this pain for me and my family!! GET IT DONE!!!

Its a stitch that they place in your cervix to keep it from thinning or opening early due to the weight of the baby, very few people need this though.

I am in the same boat! I had a cerclage with DS after cervical shortening at 18 weeks. I also delivered my DD at 30 weeks due to PROM, but only after much PTL. I was going to see a new Dr. this time around. He insisted that he didn't think the cerclage was necessary, he thought that I had PTL issues instead. I never had any PTL with DS before the cerclage though?? Anywho... I was going to agree to no cerclage as long as he agreed to monitor my cervix weekly... like they did with DS before they decided to put the cerclage in. Dr. only wanted to monitor every month, so... I went back to same Dr who delivered DS (I love her and would have just stayed with her in the first place but we moved and she is now about an hour away and so is the hospital). When I saw her yesterday she said she was doing my cerclage at 12 weeks, when I asked her if she was sure I absolutely needed it she looked at me and said "It worked the first time right? Why mess with a good thing?"
I totally agree. I would rather go through a little discomfort that I wasn't TOTALLY positive that I needed at 12 weeks, than wait and find out that I have no cervix left to do a cerclage at 20, or have to have and emergency one done again at 18 (not really an emergency, as I never shortened TOO short... just called emerg. cause we caught it late and it wasn't preventative per se.) and have the risks to the late one again.
Best of Luck to you! The best advice that I can give you is to do what YOU think is best for the baby and yourself... I think we all have motherly insticts that serve us very well if we let them!
