It sounds like sciatica. I have had it with both pregnancies. It is just awful but went away as soon as I delivered. It is usually pain and numbness that travels from the very low back all the way down behind the butt, leg, knee and goes into the foot.
Edema (swelling is normal in the 3rd trimester) However it can also be an indication of high blood pressure. If concerned contact your doctor.
Good luck!
Could it be sciatica? I'd definitely ask my OB if I was concerned.
I don't have any great insight into the pain, but the swelling is 'normal' but you still need to keep an eye on it. Keep your legs up and if you start to see spots or your heart rate increases or you have chest pains, my OB told me to get right to the ER. Swelling CAN be a sign of high blood pressure, but not always.
My legs hurt, but it's in my ankles and my knees more. My doula said it's from the relaxin hormone that is being produced to help loosen the pelvic bones for the delivery!
The other thing that the doctor told me to keep an eye out for are blood clots. Do you have any warm areas on your legs?
If this has been going on for 2 weeks, it's probably worth mentioning to the doctor. Are you on every 2 week-appointments yet?
Good luck and hope you get relief soon!
