Anyone experiencing rib pain?

I'm guessing it might be because I have a short torso and the baby just needs more room, but I have been having rib discomfort the past couple weeks that as of last night has turned into actual pain.  Oddly, it's only on my left side, and so far it's just my lowest rib.  If anyone else is having this pain, what, if anything, are you doing to try to counteract it?  I tried icing it last night, and that helped somewhat while the ice was on it, but the pain returned very quickly after removing the ice.  That won't be practical at work, anyway...

I also have had some rib pain and when I mentioned it to my OB he said that your ribs will spread apart to form the womb in the last trimester. Sounds gross doesnt it!? He said that there was nothing that you can really do to stop it but to help with the pain you can take some Tylenol. He also said if the pain keeps you/me up at night we can take Benedryl to knock us out. He said it's completely safe. Hope that helps!

I have a fairly long body but my ribs starting bothering me several weeks ago.  I asked my doctor about it and she said it's because everything is being pushed up because of my uterus and my ribs will spread a little as a result.  I work at a desk all day and I really find that I have to try to sit back instead of lean forward like I normally do.  Some days are worse than others but the payoff will be worth it.

I would have to say I am not really experiencing that kind of pain.  I am getting braxton hicks which are a bit uncomfortable.

I know this sounds strange but have you tried moving baby away from your ribs.  When I was going to the chiropractor he showed  me how to move baby up so that she wasn't always on my nerve.  If you go on all fours and get your husband to go over the top of you and place his hands just under your bump.  He then needs to move his hands up trying to gently push baby up.  I hope that makes sense.  It could help :)
