Stuffy baby question

Im wondering if anyone else's baby is stuffy at all? Leila get very stuffy when she eats her bottle and ***** on her pacifier. She is extra stuffy when she wakes up too. We use a humidifier and I've tried saline drops in each nostrile and tried sucking out the bugers that way. I dont get much but Im planning on taking her in to the doctor tomorrow in case somethings wrong. The doc said they do get stuffy sometimes when they're newborns, and if they have trouble eating and breathing at the same time to get checked out. So that's what I think is going on. No temp though, which means no RSV, respiratory problems still scare me so bad.

Sometimes she grunts and turns red, idk if she just is still trying to figure out how to breath through her nose and gets confused cuz its all so new or what.

Anyone experience any stuffy newborn baby signs.

I did the dropper and bulb syringe all by myself today!  One HUGE boogie from each nostril...gross!!!  But now my baby can breathe. :)

Seattle-- I'm sure that was rough to see but better in the end know your little one could breathe. I can relate to the bulb. The pedi told me to put the saline in, wait, then suck it out. I made my husband do it out of pure fear of hurting Annabelle. Then today when my sister came over, I made her do it. I figure it I can keep a visitor coming every day, I can totally avoid the bulb. HA!

We took out little one to the ER several weeks ago because he literally couldn't breathe at all while eating...started coughing and choking, but the poor thing was so hungry he kept trying to eat anyway...fortunately the best hospital for children in Seattle is about 5 minutes away from home.  They stuck these tubes WAY down through his nose into his throat (I couldn't watch and started crying!) and cleared him right up.  While walking from car to ER entrance, a HUGE BLACK boogie came out of his nose.  Poor thing!  He still gets stuffy every now and then...fortunately my husband for some reason LOVES putting the saline in his nose and using the bulb syringe (I can't bring myself to do it since it looks like torture to me).  Weird, I know.  He also loves changing diapers!

She definately grunts when she poops and it cracks us up too. She looks like shes pushing a lot though and nothing comes out.. Its the cutest thing. I formula feed her so she doesnt go as much. I had an infection in my breast and had to get hospitalized so I decided to try formula.  I talked to the ped and she said not to worry unless her chest is retracting and her lips turn blue. Which thank the Lord hasnt happened. So many scary things being a momma!

I feel better knowing Leila's symptoms are common in newborns. I hope youre all doing graet

Sneezing is how they clear their nose, they will grow out of it but it's VERY common in infants.

Breastfed babies poop pretty much every time they eat. So if you feed 12 times that day you will get approx 12 peeps&poops

Annabelle has been similar... stuffy sounding when she eats. The turning red and grunting is definitely pooping on our end. It actually cracks DH and me up how loud someone so small can be. She stops eating, gets a serious look on her face, grunts (several times usually) then returns to her eating, which usually get interrupted quickly because she smells  :-)  She is actually making far more dirty diapers than I expected for a breastfed baby, and more than pedi and book said she would, but if doc isn't worried, I suppose I shouldn't be either.

Annabelle sneezes often, too, but pedi didn't seem worried yet. Her next appointment is on the 21st so I'm watching everything really closely so we can talk more about it then with the pedi.

After eating often times babies pant sucking breathing abs swallowing is hard work for a baby so it's like a workout and afterwards they are exhausted and pant and sleep just like we want to do after a workout.

The congestion could be allergies either airborn or if she gets formula it could be that or even something you eat if she gets breastmilk. It could be a cold or it could be that they can't clear their sinuses so she gets congested.

As for turning red and grunting that is typically a face of a baby making poops.  Ellie does that too and then we hear an explosion in the diaper. If she seems distressed and having trouble she could be constipated in which case talk to your ped. If she is formula fed it could be she needs a different formula.

Ellie also is congested, sneezing, cough and watery eyes she has a cold and we get massive boogies out.

Resp problems scare the hel l out of me too. The ped can explain warning signs to look for such as checking her soft spot for dehydration, keeping and eye on number of poops and pees throughout the day, and breathing issue clues to look for.

Good luck at the ped

PS She doesnt look in distress or doesnt cry at all. But the only thing that scares me is her heavy breathing after eating...?
